Bonus Bits & Bites

A new location of Zeus Greek Street Food is coming soon to Roswell.  The casual Greek eatery will open at 10350 Alpharetta Street, a freestanding structure first built in 1985 as a Burger King.  The roughly 3,300 square foot building was most recently home to La Poblanita Bar & Grill, a local Mexican restaurant.  The first and currently only other location of Zeus is on Powers Ferry Road, not far from Truist Park.  Zeus is part of Last Call Hospitality, an Atlanta-based group that also owns Mambo Italian Street Food and Prickly Pear Tapas Tacos & Tequila.

After a few delays pushed the restaurant from its planned late 2024 opening, Steak & Grace has announced it will open Friday March 14.  The restaurant, located at 1317 Dunwoody Village Parkway in Dunwoody, replaced what had most recently been First Watch.  ToNeTo Atlanta exclusively reported on the restaurant this past July.  Steak & Grace is the brainchild of Barry Mills, who also owns Big B's Fish Joint in Chastain Park and was previously partners with chef Richard Blais in FLIP Burger Boutique and HD1.  Mills tapped Conor O’Reilly, formerly with Fifth Group Restaurants, as his Executive Chef.  According to a release announcing the opening, O'Reilly "favors composed plates over the a la carte approach to protein and side dishes presented at many steakhouses. His menus offer an upscale dining experience with diversity (including various gluten-free, keto, and dairy-free options)." For the time being, the restaurant will be opening for dinner only, with plans to add lunch and weekend brunch in the future.

For Five Coffee Roasters finally opened its debut coffee shop in late February.  The shop, located in a 3,700 square foot street level space at 1105 West Peachtree, officially opened February 23.  The New York-based coffee business announced the Atlanta "flagship" - today the company's largest - in 2021 and indicated it would open in 2022.  It's unclear what caused the multi-year delay.  What is clear is that the shop has seen fit to bring Manhattan pricing to Midtown Atlanta.  In addition to coffee, the shop offers bottled beverages such as Health-Ade Kombucha ($8.25), La Croix ($4.45), and Vita Coco ($4.95), as well as assorted chips ($4.50) and Energy Bars ($4.75).  Pastry options include muffins ($6.75), Croissants - Plain ($6.25), Cookies ($6.25), Banana Bread ($7.25), and Spanakopita ($8.25).  Perhaps the most absurd is the breakfast pricing with one item [Overnight Oats] priced at $14.95 and basically everything else about twenty bucks.  Steak & eggs with hashbrowns is the most expensive breakfast item - as of current egg prices - coming in at $24.95.  Lunch items are all about twenty bucks with the exception of an $11 daily rotating soup.

A new restaurant called Guru Revolving Sushi is planned for 903 Peachtree Street in Midtown, according to a recently filed building permit.  The new sushi restaurant will occupy a 3,143 square foot space in the 33 story multi-family high-rise's street level retail.    The 427 unit apartment tower was built by Chicago-based CA Ventures in 2023 and was sold to Chicago-based Waterton this past October.

Another new sushi eatery - Sushi on Ten - is coming to Modera Midtown (180 10th Street).  The new restaurant - suite 103 - will span 3,140 square feet, according to a recently filed building permit with the City of Atlanta.

Metro Atlanta's latest Olive Garden restaurant is due to open Monday March 31 at 1350 East West Connector in an outparcel of the Heritage Hills shopping center.  ToNeTo Atlanta first reported on the upcoming restaurant last January.  More recently we reported that a new Ulta Beauty store is also coming to the reinvigorated shopping center once home to an abandoned Walmart where Hobby Lobby and Floor & Decor operate today.

A new franchise of Beyond Juicery+Eatery is coming to the former Yumbii at Brookwood Village on Peachtree Road in Brookwood Hills.  Yumbii quietly closed its location this past September.    The new 1,442 square foot eatery joins the CVS Pharmacy-anchored center already home to Gusto and Black Bear Tavern.  The Brookwood Hills eatery is not yet on the company's main website and seems to be the first ever in Georgia.  Company founders Mijo Alanis and Pam Vivio opened the first Beyond Juicery location in Birmingham, Michigan in 2005 and started to franchise soon thereafter. Today, there are about 50 locations with about 40 of those in Michigan.  Ohio is also home to nine locations, and there's one in Naples, Florida.  The eatery's menu is surprisingly robust with 38 different fresh-made menu items plus build your own options, according to the company's website.  Menu offerings include juices, smoothies, bowls, breakfast burritos, wraps, and more.

Taste of Atlanta has introduced a new event this year: Grand Tasting Buckhead.  Set to take place Thursday April 24 at The Towers at Uptown Atlanta (fka Lindbergh City Center), Grand Tasting Buckhead will feature "tastes" from more than 20 Buckhead area restaurants including Aviva by Kameel, Botica, Mission+Market, Zakia, DBA Barbecue, and Nothing Bundt Cakes in anticipation of their opening at Peachtree Battle shopping center later this spring.  (This new event is different from and not affiliated with "Taste of Buckhead" an event presented by the Buckhead Business Association typically held in October.)  Taste of Atlanta will later this year put on a host of other events including:  Food That Rocks June 5 at City Springs in Sandy Springs, Grand Tasting Alpharetta August 28 at The Hotel at Avalon, and Grand Tasting Midtown October 16 at the Epicurean Hotel Atlanta in Midtown.  Tickets for all of these events are available here

Any notions on what is going on at the Dunkin Donuts on Peachtree Road in Brookhaven next to the new CFA? Been closed a few weeks now. Renovation? Scrape & rebuild? Whatever it is I hope they close off the entrance directly off Peachtree as traffic backs up there in the mornings to a considerable degree........
