Taco Mac will close its location in Chattanooga at the end of normal service Sunday, June 22. The Atlanta-based chain had operated the location at 423 Market Street in downtown Chattanooga since 1998 and reportedly expanded it in the mid 2000s.
Taco Mac was in early 2018 sold by Dallas-based private equity firm CIC Partners to a team of independent investors and experienced restaurateurs led by Atlanta resident and longtime Taco Mac guest Harold Martin, Jr.
The company closed restaurants in Cary and Charlotte, North Carolina in 2019 and 2020 respectively.
Taco Mac has seemingly adopted a new strategy that prioritizes smaller but growing suburban markets over competitive and expensive intown areas. New Taco Mac locations opened in Gainesville (September 2022), Dawsonville (February 2023), Pelham, Alabama (September 2023), and Conyers this past November.
As of next week, Taco Mac will operate 25 restaurants in Georgia and one unit in Alabama (Pelham).
Are you surprised by Taco Mac's decision to close in Chattanooga? When was the last time you dined at Taco Mac? What could Taco Mac do to earn you back as a customer?
