[ALERT] New Asian-Inspired Hot Chicken Spot + Bubble Tea Coming to Former Hoots

A new kind of restaurant is coming soon to Reynoldstown.  Mama Lin's Chicken Delight, a new concept from the owner/chef of  Midtown's The Consulate restaurant, is opening in the Publix-anchored Madison Yards project at 935 Memorial Drive.

The new restaurant will occupy a vacant 2,000 square foot space (Suite 310) previously home to Hoots.  A spinoff of Hooters, Hoots closed in the space last June as its parent company, Hooters Of America, LLC, closed its first batch of restaurants ahead of its bankruptcy filing this past March.

Mama Lin's is described as featuring a  "Hot Chicken Sandwich with a decidedly Chinese flair."  The restaurant is a new concept and is not affiliated with the similarly named Mam Lin's Asian Kitchen in San Diego.

Joining Mam Lin's in the space will be a second location of Honey Bubble Tea, another business owned by Douglas Hines and his wife Mei Lin, co-owners of The Consulate.  The first Honey Bubble opened in January 2013 at 798 Ponce de Leon Avenue, not far from Ponce City Market.

Hines indicated in March that the restaurant would be closing due to disagreement with landlord Selig Enterprises but apparently he and the Selig worked things out and he says Honey Bubble will remain there for two more years.

Honey Bubble offers bubble tea and other specialty and traditional tea options as well as a curated desert selection.

Current plans call for both businesses to open in early November.

Mama Lin's and Honey Bubble Tea are the latest businesses to announce imminent openings in the area following our report in July that popular farmers market vendor Sugar Loaf is opening its first brick & mortar at Modera Reynoldstown where they will backfill the former Chick n' Cone restaurant.

Are you excited about the opening of Mama Lin's and Honey Bubble Tea in Reynoldstown?  What is currently your favorite eatery in Reynoldstown?  What other types of businesses would you like to see open in the area?

The Honey Bubble on Ponce is great but it often appears to be closed.
