Chicken chain Pollo Campero is quietly growing its presence in the state and will soon have more than a half dozen locations open around metro Atlanta. The popular chain started in Guatemala in 1971 and today maintains US headquarters in Dallas.
Die-hard Pollo Campero fans are known to board planes from Guatemala (and El Salvador) with specially prepared bags of chicken from the popular chain. This practice is so common that airlines like Delta have airport signage that names and limits the number of Pollo Campero bags any one passenger may travel home with.
The chain currently operates five locations in metro Atlanta, including those in Brookhaven, Lawrenceville, Marietta, Norcross, and a second in Lawrenceville at 630 Buford Drive, which opened this past June in place of a former Hardee's.
Our publishing partners at The City Menus reported July 23 that the company is also planning a ground-up location in Fayetteville, their first on the southside. The new restaurant is planned for 1373 State Highway 85, across the street from Fayette Pavilion.
Are you a fan of Pollo Campero? What is your favorite quick-serve chicken restaurant? Where else in metro Atlanta would you like to see Pollo Campero open?
