The first Pollo Campero in Georgia opened in December, 2008 in Gainesville, but closed this past January. Though they have slacked a little on service lately, I'm still a big fan of El Pollo Loco, whose most successful Atlanta location is about a mile from the Pollo Campero, within the Crossroads shopping center at Clairmont Road and Buford Highway. The offerings of Pollo Campero differ slightly from those of El Pollo Loco with options of Latin style grilled or fried chicken, a number of sandwich options and soft serve frozen yogurt. El Pollo Loco sells "Flame-Grilled Mexican Chicken" and has a number of burrito and quesadilla options along with common Mexican desserts like churros and flan. Each chain has an extensive list of side options. Given the work that has already been done, I'd expect for them to open in late October. ToNeTo Atlanta

I don't see this being a winning propositin for this restaurant chain. El Pollo Loco has a superior product and there are several other chicken concepts in the area. That coupled with the fact that this area is poised for redevelopment when the market turns, I only see them open 2-3 years at best.
