A new location of Fogo de Chão is being planned for Cumberland Mall near Smyrna. Plans recently presented to Cobb County indicate that the popular Brazilian rodízio-style steakhouse (churrascaria) plans to develop a new restaurant in place of a vacant outparcel near the former Sears.
Dallas, Texas-based Fogo de Chão currently operates two restaurants in Georgia: on Piedmont Road in Buckhead and on Ashford Dunwoody Road in Dunwoody, which opened in late 2016.
ToNeTo Atlanta exclusively reported this past May that the company is also planning to open a new location on Buford Drive near the Mall of Georgia in Buford in Gwinnett County. The Buford restaurant is planned for a building previously home to the On The Border Mexican restaurant.
Fogo de Chão was established in 1979 and has been both publicly traded and privately held. It was most recently acquired by private equity firm Bain Capital in August 2023 for a reported $1.1 billion.
At Cumberland Mall, Fogo would join full-service restaurants Buffalo Wild Wings, Maggiano's Little Italy, P.F. Chang's, Stoney River Steakhouse, The Cheesecake Factory, and T's Brunch Bar, already open at the property.
