Another day, another Arby's closure in metro Atlanta. This time, it's the Arby's at 5410 Peachtree Boulevard in Chamblee. ToNeTo Atlanta readers suggest that the restaurant closed quietly this past weekend without prior notice to guests.
Arby's, owned by Sandy Springs-based Inspire Brands, has seen several metro Atlanta units close in recent years, including those in Roswell, Alpharetta, Albany, Milton, Buford, Sandy Springs, Downtown Atlanta, Buckhead (Chastain Park), and Suwanee. The company previously closed another Chamblee unit at 1801 Savoy Drive which was later demolished and rebuilt as a Public Storage facility.
The latest Chamblee closure comes on the heels of another closure in Marietta where Arby's closed along Cobb Parkway this past November.
In years past, Arby's have also closed on Spring Street in Midtown, Vaughn Road in Kennesaw, South Cobb Drive in Smyrna, Metropolitan Parkway in Atlanta, and LaVista Road in Tucker, as well as locations in Northlake Mall in Tucker and Lenox Square in Buckhead, among others.
ToNeTo Atlanta reported last October that Arby's closed its longstanding restaurant on Roswell and Wieuca Roads in Chastain Park. In June we reported that a new location of Fifth Third Bank is planned in its place.
Despite all the closures, the company and its franchisees continue to operate about 3,400 restaurants worldwide.
Remaining Atlanta area units include those on North Druid Hills Road, Sidney Marcus Boulevard, and Howell Mill Road in Atlanta, and Hammond Drive in Sandy Springs.
Are you surprised to see Arby's close in Chamblee? What would you like to see open in place of Arby's in Chamblee? What is your favorite quick-serve restaurant (QSR)?

The problem with a lot of these fast food restaurants is that they are being financially squeezed where they can't make a profit. Raw food costs have skyrocketed. Labor Costs continue to go up as well as cost for supplies (product packaging, condiments, cooking oil, etc.). Add to all that the real estate costs, either rent, taxes, building upkeep, also never stop going up.
Combine all of the above with the fact that many of these restaurants can't hire quality workers, so all in all they lose customers and don't make enough profit to justify keeping the business open. The whole restaurant/fast food industry is in a death spiral.
That location has been open at least since the 1970s.
Bummer - I liked this location - felt relatively updated, clean, great staff each time I was there, quick when you ordered. I mean - we lost the one on Roswell by Fellini's too so what are our options - the one on n druid hills between the worst BK and the target over there?
Agreed it feels like it's been there longer but we went off DeKalb County property records.
I agree 100%. What is the end game to private equity ruining everything consumer-facing?
That’s bad news! The food there was always great. But I can’t wait to see what great new thing will replace it.
Sad to see it close. I typically go to the Arby's on Hammond Drive and have found it to be pretty good.
I worked there in 1978 when it was still a "hat" building.
