All three remaining locations of Yumbii have closed. The fast casual Korean & Mexican restaurants had been listed for sale in December and remain on the market with local broker Steve Josovitz of The Shumacher Group.
Young, along with his wife Katy, would go on to open additional locations in Toco Hills (August 2020), Moores Mill (October 2022), Old Milton Parkway in Alpharetta (April 2023), and Midtown Promenade (October 2023). A location was announced for Chamblee Plaza in 2019, but it was cancelled in 2020. The Youngs also launched a sibling concept, The Queso Shop, with locations in Toco Hills and Moores Mill, both adjacent to Yumbii.
The Alpharetta location, situated in small strip center across from Avalon, closed "temporarily" in November 2023, but never reopened, marking the concept's shortest stint. The original location in Brookwood Hills closed in September 2024 and seemed to foreshadow the uncertain future of the once promising concept. (The former Alpharetta location is now home to PRU Thai Kitchen, while the former Brookwood Hills location reopened this past November as Atlanta's first Beyond Juicery franchise.)
The Queso Shop/commissary space at Toco Hills was quietly subleased to Derrick Hays of Big Dave's Cheesesteaks for him to launch "Seaboyz," a blue crab eatery, in December 2024. Seaboyz was reportedly not approved by landlord Edens, but did remain open for several months before closing sometime in March, according to social media posts. (The one-off concept seemingly decamped to Chastain Meadows Parkway in Marietta this past October.)
The three remaining Yumbii locations reportedly closed in recent days.
According to the sales listings, the three remaining units - Toco Hills, Moores Mill, and Midtown - are being offered for $200,000 each or $600,000 inclusive of the catering business and food truck too. Books, records, name, brand, and recipes are not included in the individual sales, but brand, recipes and name are included in the purchase of all three Yumbiis. Would-be buyers are invited to keep the restaurants as is or convert them to any landlord approved concept.
The specific locations and details are as follows:
Toco Hills:
2907 North Druid Hills Road in the Publix-anchored Toco Hills Shopping Center. The combined 3,310 square foot (restaurant + commissary) space was built out in 2020. "All in" monthly rent of $13,192.56 with a lease that expires August 20, 2030, and a five-year option to renew.

Are you surprised to see Yumbii close all of their stores? What would you like to see open in place of Yumbii? What is your favorite fast casual eatery in metro Atlanta?
Please share your thoughts below.

I’ve only eaten at Yumbii once and sadly, it was enough. My friends & I didn’t enjoy it
ReplyDeleteThose lease amounts are disgusting. At those individual ticket/sales levels they’ll have to be jam packed with customers all day everyday forever.
ReplyDeleteJust wondering, why do you describe it as “sad” that you did not like a restaurant? You are allowed not to like something!
ReplyDeleteDang, Yumbii was my go-to spot to get my sesame fries fix ever since Takorea closed in Midtown... and their honey sriracha wings were clutch too. Sad to see them all go.
ReplyDelete"Clutch"? I am shocked u didnt use the phrase "on point" in your post.
DeleteWhy is that shocking? The term “clutch” long predates “on point.” I would not expect guaranteed overlap of the populations of users of those terms.
DeleteWhat’s new? Local spots expand too quickly. This is a reset. Now for the midtown location, they need quick CHEAP FAST meals option for people on the beltline. Economy is shit rn.
ReplyDeleteThe Trump economy and Trump inflation closes another business. Color me shocked.
ReplyDeleteGood. Now when is Gusto going to close. Never could understand why they have so many locations with a such a limited and boring offering.
ReplyDeleteNo great loss, and what a stupid name.
ReplyDeleteOh bumblepuss, such a downer.
Deletethe beltline is not a "cheap food" district. The property values have skyrocketed to the point that a restaurant can't pay the rent and other overhead without grossly overpricing the food.
ReplyDeleteAnyone missing this needs to go to Hankook Taqueria. Same stuff, better owners.
ReplyDeleteYumbii ownership is a bit sketchy, they got their recipes from Hankook and then violated the agreement not to compete by opening brick and mortar locations.
Sesame fries and all the great tacos still available on Collier at Hankook
While I've never been, I hear Hankook is fantastic. I need to check it out.
DeleteAnother example of the Biden "Inflation Reduction Act" killing more businesses. What a moron.
ReplyDeleteSleepy Joe Biden and the damage he did to the economy. Thank god we have a true visionary as President for the next three years to repair the damage.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, trump is doing a great job. Coca-Cola is now almost as expensive as beer. A visionary my @$$
DeleteIt's all about making America great again by making water more expensive than beer.
DeleteI worked for Yumbii, they are criminals and they did this to themselves. They never cared about the business or the employees, they just stole money from the business to live luxuriously. I was having officers and people calling every day at work serving them court papers for being sued or failure to pay. They’d even sell alcohol without a license whenever the license expired. Glad to see it gone.
ReplyDeletePay Homage, they along with Just Loaf'N and The Pickle Food Trucks laid the foundation for Food Trucks in Atlanta
ReplyDeleteIt's been a while, but do they still have the food truck?
