[ALERT] Trina Turk to Shutter at Phipps Plaza in Buckhead

Trina Turk will on January 24 close its boutique at Phipps Plaza in Buckhead.  The 2,100 square foot store has been in the mall since August 2013.  There are reportedly no existing plans for the retailer to relocate elsewhere in the mall or the area at this time.

Trina Turk's closure comes on the heels of news that Vince is also closing its shop at the mall.

That said, like Vince, pieces from Trina Turk and her men's line Mr. Turk, can be found in select wholesale partners such as Nordstrom, Bloomingdale's, and Dillard's, among others.

The closures follow the exodus of several other upscale brands from the mall, including Lilly Pulitzer, Jack Rogers, Cole Haan and Johnny Was, the latter three of which relocated elsewhere in Buckhead.

In place of Vince, landlord Simon reportedly has a deal inked with luxury jeweler Van Cleef & Arpels, whereas the Trina Turk space will reportedly become a new Miu Miu boutique.  A division of Prada, Miu Miu is experiencing a renaissance of sorts with a popular collab with New Balance and singer and actress Olivia Rodrigo starring in the brand's new Spring/Summer campaign.

Simon's efforts as of late, it seems, are to turn the first floor of Phipps Plaza into an array of only the most expensive brands available (plus the disappointing food hall), while letting the second floor languish and become something that more closely resembles present-day North Point Mall.  The third floor, of course, is home to Lego Discovery Center Atlanta and the 14 screen AMC Theatre...and little else.  [Casual restaurants Earl of Sandwich and Rock's Chicken have both closed in recent weeks.]

Given the recent bankruptcy filing by the parent of Saks Fifth Avenue, one has to wonder if the store at Phipps would close and what Simon might do if that happens.  Saks acquired Neiman Marcus in late 2024, and keeping the larger Neiman Marcus store at Lenox Square open seemed like a logical move even before the bankruptcy filing.

Are you pleased by the changes at Phipps Plaza?  What types of stores or restaurants would you most like to see open in Phipps Plaza?  Have you given up on Phipps Plaza?

Please share your thoughts below.

Both Phips and Lenox stated that the Saks 5th bankruptcy won't affect them. I.e. its stores will remain open. 🤷‍♂️

These articles are written with such a shady undertone. Just report the news.

It’s a start at least at Phipps to focus the first floor on the more exclusive tenants. Maybe we’ll see more spread upstairs or at least, maybe some larger tenants filling the space.

The whole Lenox/Phipps area looks so outdated and rundown. Who's in charge of maintenance? I've seen the same trash, debris and weeds in the mulch beds for years. Pretty sad for an "upscale" shopping district.

Rather visit a gas station bathroom in south Georgia in the middle of the summer before going to either Phipps or Lenox
