[ALERT] Popular Thrift Store to Join Popular Farmers Market Shopping Center

A new Goodwill thrift store and donation center is being planned for Doraville.  The new store is slated to open alongside the Buford Highway Farmers Market and Marshalls at 5600 Buford Highway, just outside the perimeter.

The new Goodwill would occupy the 44,000 square foot endcap anchor space most recently home to bin store Krazy Dealz and Furniture & Flooring, and before that Teletron.  More than a decade ago the space was also home to an arcade and bowling alley.  The overall building was constructed as a Treasure Island store and in 1979 became one of the first two Home Depot stores to open.

The proposed store received unanimous approval from the Doraville City Council at their April 15 meeting.

Goodwill of North Georgia, the metro Atlanta affiliate of Goodwill Industries, was established in 1925 and today operates more than 70 thrift stores and 50 freestanding donation centers around the greater metro Atlanta area.

The organization currently operates several stores in the vicinity of the Doraville store including those on Buford Highway in Northeast Plaza in Brookhaven, Perimeter Center West in Dunwoody, and Peachtree Parkway in Norcross.

Are you excited for the opening of a new Goodwill thrift store in Doraville?  What is your favorite Atlanta area thrift store?  Do you remember when The Home Depot first opened here in 1979?
