[EXCLUSIVE] Local BBQ Joint on the Move in Sandy Springs

McDaniel's QN2 BBQ is on the move in Sandy Springs.  The popular barbecue eatery, originally a Slope's BBQ franchise, will later this year relocate from their current location (near the intersection of Johnson Ferry Road and Sandy Springs Circle) to a smaller space about a mile away (near the intersection of Abernathy and Roswell Roads).

Currently located in a 4,400 square foot space at Springs Landing, the restaurant will shrink in size by more than fifty per cent when it moves to a 1,625 square foot space in the LA Fitness-anchored Sandy Springs Crossing shopping center.

Brothers Andy and Glenn McDaniel opened the Slope's BBQ franchise in Sandy Springs in 2002 and rebranded to their current family name restaurant in 2022.  This latest change is likely the result of a collective change in consumer behavior with fewer diners enjoying their food (barbecue or otherwise) on site, resulting in the restaurant being larger than needed for today's customers.

The current endcap space, in a center across from City Springs and also home to Bruster's, Arden's Garden, and Papa Johns, among other tenants, is already being marketed for lease.

In Sandy Springs Crossing, McDaniel's QN2 joins Nowak's Steakhouse and Aldo's.  Longtime center tenant Nori Nori recently "temporarily closed," but its closure is believed to be permanent.

The new McDaniel's is slated to open in the months to come.

Are you pleased to see McDaniel's remaining in the area?  What would you like to see open in place of the current McDaniel's?  Who do you think makes the best barbecue in metro Atlanta?

Please share your thoughts below.
