An Atlanta-based operator of traditional grocery stores is closing its upmarket "Eden Fresh Market" store. Wayfield Foods, which launched the higher end banner in 2018 in Fayetteville, announced Monday it will be closing the store.
According to store employees, all merchandise (save for alcohol) is being offered for 20 percent off in advance of the planned September 7 closure.
Wayfield first opened the roughly 42,000 square foot store at 12160 County Line Road in Turnberry Commons shopping center in the fall of 2014 as Wayfield before closing it in 2018 to convert to the Eden Fresh Market banner. The anchor space was originally occupied by Food Lion, which operated there for less than two years before closing in early 2012.

The store offered a wider variety of fine wines, wild-caught seafood, grassfed beef, gluten-free products, and natural and organic options, and also offered meal kits from Freshop as well as local products, such as The King’s Donuts from a Fairburn donut shop
Wayfield, which was established in 1982, currently operates seven stores around metro Atlanta area including stores in Atlanta, College Park, Decatur, and Lithonia, among others. The company also operates one other Eden Fresh Market on Main Street in College Park. The store opened in May 2023 (in place of a converted Wayfield Foods) and is staying open.
