[EXCLUSIVE] Family-Owned Texas Retailer Bringing its Growing Business to Georgia

A Texas-based specialty retail store called Saint Bernard is planning to open its first store outside of the Lone Star State in Atlanta.  The new store is coming to Buckhead / Chastain Park and will mark the family-owned retailer's sixth overall store.  

Saint Bernard was established as a specialty ski shop by Anne and Wes Goyer in 1978.  The business has grown over the years to include a wide variety of merchandise that today includes clothing, shoes, gear, and accessories for men, women, and children from brands such as Peter Millar, Faherty, Rodd & Gunn, Mizzen+Main, Criquet, Greyson, Farm Rio, Simon Miller, and Hunter Bell.  

The Dallas-based company currently operates in Austin, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, and Southlake with Anne and Wes's son Charlie, after 13 years as the company's COO, named CEO and president in January 2024, and seemingly leading the business's expansion effort.  

The store's size, offerings, and target customer will likely put it in immediate competition with High Country Outfitters, also located along Roswell Road, which late last year expanded its store to 12,000 square feet and now calling it the company's flagship location.  Atlanta-based Miller Bros. also carries similar or overlapping lines and is located across multiple storefronts in the Buckhead Village.  

The Buckhead store is planned for 3840 Roswell Road where the USPS Northside Carrier facility previously operated.  3840 Roswell Road Partners, LLC, an affiliate of Saint Bernard, purchased the 2.3 acre property for $6.5 million this past November.  (It's believed that the company also purchased the now closed roughly .57 acre Goodyear property at 3830 Roswell Road too, but that sale is not yet reflected in county records.)  

Little is known yet about the store but based on its existing Texas stores and the size of the property in Atlanta, it's expected that this new store will be 15,000-20,000 square feet with plenty of parking.  Based on the tremendous amount of site work still to be completed (the property(s) have not yet been cleared) it's unlikely the store will be open anytime soon.
