Zaxby's will be the latest chicken chain to open at 425 Ponce de Leon Avenue in Atlanta.
KFC built a restaurant adjacent to Taco Bell and around the corner from Pizza Hut (fellow Yum! Brands), but closed nearly two years ago. In their place, Church's re-entered the market, having closed a unit nearby many years before. Church's renovated the interior and painted the exterior and opened in late 2011, before closing this past December. Now, Athens-based Zaxby's will demolish the building to erect a new structure for their restaurant. Demolition should begin in a couple weeks with the potential for the new restaurant to be open by late summer / early fall.

Zaxby's opened new locations on Roswell Road in north Buckhead in 2011 and another on North Druid Hills Road near North DeKalb Mall earlier last year. Zaxby's also finally opened their long delayed restaurant on Peachtree Boulevard in ChamHaven late last year. The restaurant broke ground in October of 2011 and sat partially built for many months before finally opening this past November.
Personally, I would have loved to have seen a Bojangles' on Ponce, but hey, ya' take what you can get. New construction and real estate that does not stay on the market long are good things.
What are your thoughts on Zaxby's chances on Ponce? What is your favorite chicken chain? Are you, like me, waiting for there to be a freaking Bojangles somewhere ITP? Please weigh in below.

Oh Lord. I guess it all depends on who they're able to hire. And given that location, I can only imagine.
"I GOTTA COMPLICATED ORDAH!"
Hell Yeah! It's about damn time!
The only reason half those fast food restaurants on Ponce do well is they're open late. If Zaxby's keeps normal business hours, they probably won't stick around.
About time! I called them several years ago regarding franchising in Atlanta but they said they weren't interested at the time.
Work Out!
