[CLOSURE ALERT] Twisted Taco Goes Silent in Alpharetta

Twisted Taco has closed its short-lived restaurant in Alpharetta.  The restaurant, located at 1495 Alpharetta Highway, opened in mid 2017 and closed within the past week.  When it opened, it took the place of Tower Burger, which itself did not last long, opening in late 2014 and closing by late 2016.  Before Tower Burger the site was home to a Sonic restaurant.
Local real estate brokerage The Shumacher Group first listed the Alpharetta Twisted Taco for sale this past fall.  The listing, now updated to reflect that the restaurant has closed, includes both rent or purchase options.

The 3,532 square foot restaurant sits on about a half an acre and was designed by "award-winning architects."

If renting, $8,000 monthly rent (with 3% yearly increases) on a Five (5) year lease.

If purchasing, $1.65M for all assets, including building and property.

Here to Serve Restaurants founder Tom Catherall is one local restaurateur who has expressed interest in the space.

Atlanta based Twisted Taco operates several "University" locations according to its website but only three "full service" including those in Fayetteville, Johns Creek and Suwanee.

Twisted Taco has previously shuttered locations in Alpharetta (Windward Parkway), Sandy Springs (Wieuca Road), Tucker (Northlake Parkway),  Smyrna (East West Connector) Dunwoody (Park Place) and Kennesaw (George Busbee Parkway) among others.

Are you surprised that Twisted Taco did not last in Alpharetta?  When was the last time you ate at a Twisted Taco?  What would you like to see replace Twisted Taco in Alpharetta?

With the explosion of restaurants in Downtown Alpharetta and Avalon, it's the restaurants in the peripheral and North Point areas that are closing: Fuddruckers, Sage, Spice, Hibachi Grill, Ruby Tuesday, Black Walnut Cafe, Alpha Soda etc. Twisted Taco was ok but sort of in the middle of nowhere competing against both the new hot locales and many other nearby Mexican options.

The last time I ate at Twisted Taco was at the Dunwoody location and I got food poisoning. Surprised they closed? Nope.
