Finally, something is taking the largest portion of the vacant Niketown at Phipps Plaza. As I reported last November, retailer Vince will take a small portion of the space and plans to open this spring. I have now learned the name of the much rumored "Italian steakhouse." Davio's Northern Italian Steakhouse will take the remainder of the Niketown space, and is scheduled to open late this fall. Currently the chain has locations in Boston, Foxborough, MA, and Philadelphia. While Dallas-based Consolidated Restaurant Operations backed out of their planned Cantina Laredo and III Forks Steakhouse locations at Terminus 200, there is hope that this new concept will succeed at Phipps. Terminus is poorly located, with terrible parking options and has yet to live up to its hype. Phipps, on the other hand, is well established in the Atlanta area, Buckhead more specifically, and already draws shoppers to the likes of Tiffany & Company , Juicy Couture and Gucci, in addition to Twist and the Tavern at Phipps. Parking is a breeze as well: valet, street level or in a deck (unless its the holiday season, then all bets are off.) Furthermore, I think this new restaurant will compliment the existing dining options at Phipps. While I am not a fan of more steakhouses in the area, Davio's is different than most, with its Italian take for one thing, in addition to a variety of gluten-free lunch and dinner options and a kids' menu. The smartest idea: I have heard that the restaurant will have access from the exterior of the mall, perhaps outdoor dining as well? ToNeTo Atlanta

Interesting. I've seen the Davio's in Foxboro (it's next to the New England Patriots stadium).

Expensive but I think I'll definitely try it out once.
I have eatan at the one is Boston. I have to say it is one of the best meals I have ever had. I have never forgotten my expierence there and cannot wait until it opens here. Everyone should try this place... you will love it
According a press release on their website, Davio's is scheduled to open at Phipps on Wednesday, August 25 - sooner than expected when you originally posted this!
I'm an Atlanta native now living in Boston, so I have an interest in good food in both cities. My husband and I used to eat at Davio's a lot before we had kids; now I only get there for the occasional business lunch, but the food is consistently good, so hopefully it will be a good addition to the Atlanta dining scene.
My husband and I dined at Davio's this afternoon and I must say that this was the best restaurant experience that I we have had in the Atlanta area.
The service was excellent and the food was magnificent!!! Big ups to our wait person Carlos!!!!
We will dine there again and again when we are in Phipps Plaza.
