Merchant's Walk Adds Two New Dining Options With More to Come

Merchant's Walk in East Cobb will soon be home to a number of new eateries. Denver-based Chipotle Mexican Grill will open their 13th Atlanta area location there on August 3rd. Additionally, Los Angeles-based Pinkberry will open a second Atlanta location next to Chipotle. Local Pinkberry franchisee David Beall opened the first Atlanta area Pinkberry last month in Akers Mill shopping center on Cobb Parkway, not far from Cumberland Mall. In that location, he faced little nearby competition and has been doing gangbuster business. The new Merchants Walk location will open a hop skip and a jump from Yogli Mogli in nearby Market Plaza, which opened this past March. Yogli Mogli is a local concept, offering yogurt in a "self serve" environment where customers are charged by the ounce.

Pinkberry sells its yogurt by size. It's doubtful one concept will kill the other, rather I see them complementing one another, each providing a distinctive product in a different setting. In addition to Chipotle and Pinkberry, Merchants Walk is undergoing a massive, multi-million dollar renovation and expansion. When all is said and done next summer, the center will be home to Atlanta's sixth Whole Foods Market and Georgia Theater Company will see a two screen expansion, growing from 12 to 14 screens and an upgrade to all digital projectors, including some Dolby Digital 3D.
