Timber! The Firkin & Griffin Landing in Dunwoody

The former Smokey Bones Barbecue on Ashford-Dunwoody Road will soon become a new Firkin Pub. Smokey Bones closed a number of locations in 2007, including Dunwoody, before being sold by its owner Darden Restaurants to an affiliate of Sun Capital Partners. Up until recently there had been no activity in the space at Ashford Place. Originally home to Grady's American Grill, the Smokey Bones signature logs were recently removed, hinting at the possibility of a new tenant. The Firkin, a chain of pubs based in Canada, opened at Lindbergh City Center and in The Avenue Forsyth last year. Ashford Place, is home to Romano's Macaroni Grill and Chili's. This new Dunwoody location will return the chain to its roots of pairing an animal with the Firkin and be called "Firkin & Griffin." While permits are currently in progress, the possibility of outdoor dining has me intrigued as there are not enough options like this in Dunwoody. Additionally, aside from plenty of large LCD TVs within the main dining area of the restaurant, I'm told that about 13 booths with have their own "personal" TVs. This concept should perform well in family-friendly Dunwoody. ToNeTo Atlanta
