Lenox Square : UPDATE

In March, I was the first and only news outlet in Atlanta to break news as to what new tenants would be opening in Lenox Square.  Since then, bits and pieces have trickled out and been regurgitated by other media in town.  Rather than wait for press releases or the rely on the cooperation of Lenox Square, I've dug deeper, and drawn upon my Buckhead resources to deliver this Lenox Square update.

The hope had been to have the entire front area done by the 2013 holiday season, that now seems rather unlikely.

Sperry Top-Sider plans to open their store August 16th.

Karen Millen expects to open in their new location mid to late September.

Vince Camuto hopes to open in mid to late October.

UGG Australia, previously posted signage for an August opening.  In late July they posted October opening signage.

Zinburger hopes to open by late December

Sprinkles is currently reporting they plan to open "late winter" which was later said to be "December or early January."  Other reports indicated an October opening so I'm thinking they will be open by Christmas.

Tumi plans to open in mid to late December.

Lacoste hopes to open in December but is allegedly "still ironing out lease details."

True Food Kitchen has been pushed to late January

Nike refused comment on when their new store will open.  (Multiple sources have hinted there may be a snag in the Nike lease and that they may be reconsidering / or have already pulled out of their previously announced two-story, 23,000 square foot store.)

The Cheesecake Factory  has not officially announced they will move to Lenox Square but they will occupy a single story location near where Nike is supposedly opening.  I'd wager they won't open until early 2014.

The traffic circle still planned for the front portion of the mall near the flagpoles has yet to take shape, and is likely behind schedule as well.

The food court is currently undergoing its extensive remodel.  Chick-fil-A has temporarily closed and will reopen later this year along with new additions Chipotle Mexican Grill, FIGO Pasta, Panda Express and Saladworks.  Currently I'm told the food court WILL be ready for the holiday season.

Near to the food court in front of the Bloomingdale's parking deck, Simon is reportedly planning an apartment tower.  Personally I think this is a terrible idea given the logistics and limited  vehicular options of the area, but hey, Simon does what makes dollars, not necessarily what makes sense.

What are your thoughts on the progress at Lenox Square?  Are you in favor of the planned apartments adjacent to the mall?  What new opening are you most looking forward to?  Please share your thoughts below.

Why are there so many openings appearing to be just missing the majority, if not all, of the holiday season? bureaucratic delays? slow progress on the part of the retailers? talk about a missed opportunity to drive some serious revenue.

Any other news about Lacoste relocating? That store is a shoebox and I would think moving ASAP would behoove them...

Or specifically where they will be moving to? Allegedly...

@eh1984,

As I announced back in March, and Simon made official more recently, Lacoste will open on the first floor, at the front. The Lacoste store will open beside Bebe, near Panera Bread.

Thanks for your comments and readership.

El Oh El at the Cheesecake Factory. Boggles my mind people still actually eat their microwaved food.

Is Nike looking at other locations? Or just bailing on Atlanta entirely?

@Anon RE: Nike,

It's unclear at this point what their plan is.

Thanks for the comment and for your readership.

If the apartment tower were close to the Bloomingdale's/food court entry, wouldn't that also make it near the marta station? Am I misremembering the geography of that area?
