Brookstone Making a Cameo Appearance at Phipps Plaza

Brookstone is returning for a third time to Phipps Plaza.

Brookstone, the gift and gadget emporium, will open a new store in the mall's first level in a month or so.  The store opens in place of Michael Stars (which relocated to the former Carter Barnes) and is said to be only a temporary holiday store.

Brookstone was for many years located next to where they will now open, but today Lilly Pulitzer occupies that space.  That original space closed early last year, but during the holiday season, Brookstone re-opened in the former Armani Exchange space on the upper level.

A few months ago, Brookstone relocated their Lenox Square space, previously adjacent to the Apple store, and now located alongside Crocs and Gap kids, still on the upper level. The store sports the new, more contemporary design, and appears to have a slightly larger sales area.  Their former space will soon open as a first of its kind Tumi store, designed by Dror Benshetrit, an  award-winning designer and architect.

The Sharper Image, once a main competitor of Brookstone and occupant of multiple area malls, is today without a brick & mortar presence following their bankruptcy.  The Sharper Image lives on as a brand via assorted retail partnerships.

Went to Phipps today. Probably a good idea just to have a holiday store. It is a much smaller space than they had before.

I get annoyed every time I go to Phipps now. Such a contrast with the nice expensive peaceful stores vs the lego land children.

I did notice today that they put a permanent sign up on the new rug store in the former Cold Water Creek location.
