Parkway Pointe Primed for Popularity Again

Parkway Pointe shopping center is adding two new tenants in addition to the previously reported Taco Mac and Main Event.

Marietta-based Retail Planning Corporation is reshaping its Parkway Pointe Shopping Center with the addition of four new tenants in the coming months.

As I wrote in March, the center, near the intersection of  I-75 and Cobb Parkway, has had its fair share of struggles, with multiple tenants having closed, most due to bankruptcy.  Now, the center is nearly 100% leased with only one space still on the market, a roughly 13,000 suite, which is most of the former Borders on the second floor.

Taco Mac will soon open a new 7000 square foot restaurant & bar in the former Don Pablo's.

Main Event is opening in all of the former Crunch Fitness and part of the former Linens n' Things.

Asheville, North Carolina-based Earth Fare plans to open a roughly 26,000 square foot grocery store on the first floor in a portion of the current Pier 1 Imports and all of the former Old Navy.  Earth Fare is reportedly also planning stores in Cumming and north Buckhead,

Newk's Eatery plans to open a roughly 5300 square foot restaurant on the first floor occupying a portion of what is now Pier 1 Imports.

Pier 1 Imports will relocate to the upper level closest to AMC Theaters, and will occupy a 15,000 square foot portion of the former Borders.

Not to be left out, the existing AMC Theatres Parkway Point 15 will receive interior and seating improvements.

Great news. The bad luck of having 3 major tenants close due to bankruptcy was horrible, and then the other closures too didn't help. I'm curious though what parking will be like once everything is open. It's been so long since the shopping center was full, I don't remember if parking ever was an issue, but having a grocery store and movie theater (plus restaurants and other retailers) could lead to parking issues. Hopefully I'm wrong!

I work right up the street from this complex and this is great news for this area! It's been run down for so long, it's nice to see it get a much needed face lift! Can't help but think the Braves move nearby prompted a lot of this...

While Don Pablo's service was not great, there food will surely be missed. It was delicious.

What kind of business is Main Event?

@Anon RE: Main Event,

Main Event is a family entertainment venue with bowling, laser tag, billiards, bocce ball and other activities.

I live nearby and am really really grateful for all of the area improvements (presumably due to the Braves move as well as economic resurrection of the area).

One thing I can say for parking: with the lot being a garage (usually only us locals know this), I'm not concerned. The development across the way with new apartments and office space will also most likely have more garage space to accommodate over flow that I'm presuming will only occur during weekends/ Friday & Saturday nights for Main Event & AMC.

Can't wait to see these business start up and really hoping these renovations make their way to Cumberland mall!!

between the new apartments and the new tenants, we'll have 1 of 2 possible results. the apartments and/ or new stores will close due to foreseeable and expected overdevelopment many real estate experts expect in the whole corridor from bulkhead to vinings, or they will be successful and traffic will become even worse than it is now. if i wanted to live in town, i would have moved there. this is a nightmare.
oh yeah, lock your doors and cars.

When can we expect the reopening of AMC?

@Dorothy,

The opening should happen sometime late next month.

Interesting... why would a furniture store move UPSTAIRS? That seems counterintuitive.

The AMC theater is now open!!! I'm so excited and Main Event opens November 12th!!! I can't wait, I'm so glad that everything is getting done quickly. I always loved this neighborhood and now I'm even more excited to be staying so close!
