Bits & Bites

f.y.e. (yes they still exist) will soon close its location at Arbor Place Mall in Douglasville.  F.y.e. or (For Your Entertainment) was once in nearly every Atlanta area mall, including North DeKalb, Phipps Plaza, Lenox Square and Perimeter Mall.  Today, the chain is a shadow of its former self.  Currently, the chain operates just seven stores in Georgia, all of which are OTP, most waaay OTP.

Orange Julius has closed its location within Perimeter Mall's food court. The smoothie shop had previously replaced what had been a Planet Smoothie.   The space is small, adjacent to Chick-fil-A, at the cusp of the food court. Orange Julius products are now available at the existing Dairy Queen in the food court.

Chuy's plans to finally open its long delayed Kennesaw location on Ernest Barrett Parkway in late July. I first announced the planned location in November of 2012, at which point Chuy's corporate indicated they planned to open September 17th, 2013.

Midtown's Senor Patron will soon open a second location, in Johns Creek.  The casual Mexican eatery opened on Peachtree Street at Spire in 2012.  The new location replaces a shuttered Chepe's Mexican Grill on Old Alabama Road.

Delights has closed its location within the Lenox Square Fashion Cafe.  The frozen yogurt, ice cream and smoothie shop had relocated from its earlier location, now home to Freshii, to its current home, closer to the Fashion Cafe's main entrance, just a few months ago.  The concept and branding never seemed like it had "staying power," and its closure comes as little surprise given the updates to the Fashion Cafe.

Shockingly, Scoreboards Bar & Grill has closed on Clairmont Road near North Decatur Road.  The bar and grill reportedly closed this past Sunday, about a month after Emory graduation.  Emory students have long been supporters of whatever concept opened in this seemingly cursed space, but nothing ever seems to last long.  Prior to Scoreboards, the space was home to The Nest, before which it was Selam and before that, Moya.  Scoreboard's first opened in September, 2012.  Local sources say another restaurateur has already leased the space and plans to open an as-yet-unnamed concept in the coming months.

A new Krispy Kreme is coming to Augusta.  The new Krispy Kreme doughnut shop will will open 3110 Peach Orchard Road.  The outparcel space was once a Bojangles' but after the chicken chain closed, the building was demolished and the space has been vacant.

Peachtree Tavern has been renamed "The Southern Club." The change reportedly took place a few weeks ago with new permanent signage not yet in place.  Sibling watering holes Hole in the Wall and Moondogs will remain the same, for now.

Barberitos is opening a new location in Bethlehem, Georgia.  Bethlehem is in northeast Georgia, between Lawrenceville and Athens.  The new Bethlehem location will be on Exchange Boulevard at the Boulevard Shoppes. Barberitos specializes in "Mission" style burritos and is based in Athens, Georgia.  Barberitos' Buckhead location at The Peach on Peachtree Road and Sandy Springs location at The Prado on Roswell Road have reportedly both struggled, which could be the reason for the way OTP expansion.

An as-yet-unnamed Ethiopian establishment has applied to the city of Brookhaven for a variance to allow it to sell alcohol and stay open late at Northeast Plaza on Buford Highway.
