Bits & Bites

A new Denny's should open "early next year" in Snellville. The new restaurant, located at 2160 Scenic Highway, occupies a former Duron Paints & Wallcovers space. The 6,300 square foot space is being heavily renovated to be converted to a restaurant space.  Durham, North Carolina-based RWDT Foods Inc. previously announced plans to open other metro Atlanta locations in Brookhaven, Douglasville and Hapeville.  The Brookhaven location (in a former Captain D's/current car dealership) was supposed to have opened months ago, but as far as I know has not yet begun work.

New Mattress Firm and Vitamin Shoppe stores are coming soon to Conyers.  The two stores will be opened side by side in a single 7,500 square foot building on Highway 138. The new building is currently under construction and is in an outparcel of existing Walmart and Home Depot stores.

A  new SpaceMax storage facility will take over a significant portion of the former Super Target on West Park Place Boulevard in Stone Mountain. (Nearby, a former Cub Foods screams redevelopment as it has sat idle since the grocer exited the Atlanta market over ten years ago.)  The SpaceMax is no doubt a better use of the space than the large storage facility proposed to replace the former Varsity Jr. on Lindbergh Drive.  A vacant Cub Foods nearby sits vacant, as it has for over 10 years.

A spokesperson for LongHorn Steakhouse informed me there is "no update at this time" regarding when or if the North Druid Hills location that partially burned will be rebuilt.

The "relocated" Buffalo Wild Wings in south Buckhead is reportedly stalled.  The franchised unit was previously announced to have been opening in the former Justin's in south Buckhead after closing their location at Lenox Marketplace across from Phipps Plaza in late April.   No permits have been filed with the city since August and BWW corporate has been mum.  A source at another BWW intown reportedly heard the location was no longer opening.

Yet another juice joint is coming to town, this one called Veda Juice.  Veda will occupy a 1,200 square foot space at Peachtree Hills Village and will serve "100 percent cold-pressed juice, organic and locally sourced whenever available."  The small center is less than ten years old, having replaced the old Big H food mart at the corner of Lindbergh Drive and Peachtree Hills Avenue. Veda joins Witzlib Fitness Studio, which relocated from Peachtree Road following the fire last December that damaged their space.

A new AutoZone is coming soon to the 1900 block of Jesse Jewell Parkway in Gainesville.

Due to a trademark dispute out of Las Vegas, Bazaria, the soon to open fast casual mediterranean eatery in midtown, has changed its name.  Now known as Bezoria, owner Yogi Patel plans to open in the coming weeks.

Steinway Piano Galleries recently opened an approximately 2,600 square foot store on the second floor of Phipps Plaza. The new Steinway Pianos store is located near Saks Fifth Avenue and  features a "unique selection of Steinway-designed pianos."

Any word on the Toco Hill Longhorn? I heard that they don't own the property, and will possibly not rebuild. It's an eyesore.
