New "Fresh Organic" Sub Shop Coming to Smyrna

Whole Subs promises "fresh organic subs, wraps and salads - cafe style."

A new Atlanta-based eatery called Whole Subs plans to open what it's calling its "flagship" location at Olde Ivy Village in Smyrna.   The center is located in the 4300 block of  the East-West Connector with the sub shop slated to occupy suite 103. The 1,520 square foot space is sandwiched between the newly opened Uncle Maddio's Pizza Joint and at&t.  

Olde Ivy Village is anchored by a 28,000 square foot Sprouts Farmers Market

The restaurant describes themselves on their facebook as follows:

"At Whole Subs Organic Cafe, “We Will Feed You Well!” We strive to use only the best organic and antibiotic-free natural deli meats and cheeses – free of growth hormones, preservatives, artificial coloring, antibiotics and fillers - and produce that is free of synthetic pesticides and herbicides. Whenever available, we use local organic produce and products as a commitment to our organic community. Our organic breads are made fresh daily by local bakeries. Our food is “As real as it gets!” We are committed to providing you with the highest quality and best tasting food - and we thank you for your patronage!"

A Craigslist ad placed earlier this month seeks to find a "store manager with culinary experience and knowledge of nutrition." The job posting promises a "highly competitive salary + bonus." 

While both a website and facebook page are live, neither hints at possible menu options or pricing.  

In a city already crowded with subs  / sandwiches from Subway and Jimmy John's and newcomers like Capriotti's and Penn Station East Coast Subs, can an "organic" version find a market?  How do you think a Publix sub stacks up against the competition?  What unique offerings would make you a "Whole Subs" customer?

This is interesting. Doesn't Sprouts also serve deli sandwiches? If so, how is this concept not prohibited by the Sprouts exclusive (I haven't seen Sprouts' exclusive yet)?

I think the problem with any concept of this sort is pricing. While it shouldn't be compared to Subway (where I do eat plenty but will readily admit that their meats cannot be very high quality) it'll seem crazy to people to spend $10 on a sandwich, which is what it'll cost for all those wholesome ingredients.

Muss and Turner's would probably be more of a competitor. It is right around the corner and also much higher priced than the chain sandwich shops. I still vote Jersey Mike's. Publix is okay, but it is too slow and the bread gets hard sitting in their plastic bins which makes all the meat and toppings fall out the back when you bite into it.

Who thinks Whole Foods will sue, or send a C/D to Whole Subs for trademark infringement?

If dwb (driving while black) wasn't still a problem in cobb co, I'd love to check this out!

Hoboken Cafe in Cobb serves $10 sandwiches, and that place is packed at lunchtime. On the other hand, Hoboken's in a dying strip mall next door to a strip mall with exactly one tenant on Whitlock, and I imagine that their monthly rent might also be a whole lot lower than this shiny new place on the E-W Connector.

Tuna Mozz sub at Hoboken Cafe is close to heaven on a roll.
Some Subways can make a decent tuna jalepeno sub for about $7...
but whenever we are near HC and it is open we will gladly pay more for something so good!
