Youngstown, Ohio based Rise Pies plans to open its first Georgia location at Lenox Square's Fashion Cafe next spring. The roughly 1,000 square foot eatery will occupy both the former Hovan Gourmet (which has more recently been a number of failed concepts) as well as the soon to close Taco Bell.
Taco Bell is slated to close January 31st, and Rise Pies aims to open May 1st.
Rise Pies marks the return of quick serve pizza to the mall following last February's closure of Sbarro.
Rise Pies offers "handcrafted pizza" in "160 seconds." Standard pizzas at Rise are 10.5 inches in diameter at a base price of just under six bucks for cheese. Premium pies with unlimited toppings cost just under ten bucks. (Both prices were obtained from the existing store at International Plaza in Tampa. Prices for the Lenox location have not yet been published, but should be similar.)
Rise Pies is being opened by one of the largest Auntie Anne's franchisees.
There are currently four Rise Pies locations open in Florida, Ohio and Illinois.
Although Rise Pies is far from alone in the quick serve pizza segment, they are the first business that I'm aware of to bring their pizzas to a mall's food court in metro Atlanta.
California Pizza Kitchen, which reopened November 18th after an extensive remodel, has been a mall mainstay for decades.
What is your favorite quick serve pizza restaurant? Do you think Rise Pies will do well in Lenox Square? What is your perfect price for a personal pizza?
