A glimpse into the progress at the new Sublime Doughnuts in Druid Hills |
Gourmet doughnuts headed to Sandy Springs.
Atlanta's Sublime Doughnuts, who encourages people to "eat one that's worth it," is coming to Sandy Springs. The new Sublime, will be the third in Atlanta for the growing chain. The original on 10th Street near Georgia Tech will soon be joined by a second location, near the intersection of Briarcliff and North Druid Hills Roads. Located within The Village at Druid Hills, the new Sublime was delayed a number of months but with construction now well underway, company officials project a mid-March opening.
The newest Sublime will be in The Exchange at Hammond, a popular shopping center anchored by Whole Foods Market, located at the corner of Hammond Drive and Roswell Road. There is currently no expected opening timetable for the Sandy Springs location but I'd hope it happens before the end of the year.
The Sandy Springs location will open in place of what was most recently FroZoyo and before that Yoforia, both failed frozen yogurt operations. The Sandy Springs location measures 1,841 square feet, while the Druid Hills location is 1,386 square feet.
Sources tell me that with the larger spaces, the new stores will feature new doughnut flavors as well as house-made ice cream and new coffee and tea options. It's likely that the new ice cream flavors will be just as creative and edgy as the doughnut offerings.
Existing doughnut flavors include Deep Dark Chocolate Fudge, A-Town Cream, Oreo Ice Cream Burger and Salted Caramel and Reduced Balsamic Vinegar, and the Ying Yang Twist.
Kamal Grant, Sublime's founder and co-owner, opened the first Sublime Doughnuts in 2008 and began franchising with a location in Bangkok, Thailand in 2012.
With the help of Atlanta Franchise Group, an Atlanta based firm that assists emerging brands in their franchising efforts, Sublime began domestic franchising last year.
Atlanta has become a hotbed of gourmet doughnuts with the recent opening of Bon Glaze off Johnson Ferry Road in Brookhaven and announcement of a Revolution Doughnuts expansion into Inman Park. A second Bon Glaze is expected to open in early March on Roswell Road in North Buckhead.
Where would you like to see Sublime Doughnuts open next? Which new location are you most excited about? Where is your favorite doughnut shop in Atlanta?

I'd love to see an ulta, DSW, & REI as well as a space for local artists like beehive or young blood gallery.
Bon Glaze was pretty disappointing and I haven't been back since. Da Vinci's donuts on Glenridge Drive is much better. So glad Sublime is coming to Sandy Springs
Inside the airport, preferably Concourse A.
