New Mexican restaurant planned for Sandy Springs.
CT Cocina & Taqueria plans to open later this spring in Sandy Springs. The new fast casual restaurant will open in place of Dickey's Barbecue Pit which closed last month.
According to the restaurant's website, CT will offer "Mexican tacos and Latin dishes with a touch of International flavors. Featuring a bar with Margaritas, Mezcal, Tequilas, Cocktails and Craft Beers."
CT is being opened by Rafael Jaime of Las Palmas Mexican Restaurant. Las Palmas has a number of locations around Georgia.
Jaime tells me he hopes to have CT open by the first week in June, although he plans to debut the restaurant's food at the inaugural Atlanta Taco Festival, May 1st in Candler Park.
The restaurant's menu is still in the planning stages, but Jaime hopes to have it completed in a month or so.
Are you excited for CT Cocina to open in Sandy Springs? Do you miss Dickey's? What is your favorite local taqueria?

This place will surely fail. El Azteca has been the go-to Mexican restaurant in Sandy Springs for decades, and is only a few blocks away. CT will try, but will go the way of others who have unsuccessfully tried to make it, they will not be able to match El Azteca's patios, value, and cantina atmosphere.
Azteca is sooo run down and dirty it is disgusting and filthy and I think alcohol is how hey get the crowds they do
While that location is certainly a challenge (buried in the back of a Publix center), the food will almost certainly be better than El Azteca. I agree the patio is top notch - but El Azteca is just a place for chips and drinks for me. Their food is pretty gross.
I agree... El Azteca is sort of gross (dirty, so so food). It's the location (patio) and the alcohol that give it the crowds it has. I wish this place the best of luck, although fear that the publix lot is not going to work. Traffic is already horrible around that intersection... although, I guess Ippolitos has made it this long. Sandy Springs is in desperate need of some upscale restaurants!!
The traffic at that intersection SUCKS. Getting in and out of there will not work. Lots of restaurants have failed in there, and if you all recall, it used to be a Fresh Mexi-cali and it failed miserably, despite having good and fast food. The only thing retail spaces that work in that spot are Publix, Starbucks and Parman's. Good luck, I give it 6 months.
And it's in between El Azteca and Tijuana Joe's. TJ's is gross and is run down. El Azteca at least has good, cheap, quality food and has a smoking and non-smoking patios. This new place will not have a patio at all. And upscale here will not work here. It's Sandy Springs, c'mon....
Seriously? More Mexican? Blah
Yay! So excited to see new original restaurant concepts (non-national chains) in the North Springs area! I will support it, for sure!!
Thank you so much for your comments about our coming opening...
We respect the history and tradition of El Azteca in the area, and we please ask you to give us the opportunity to serve you as soon as we open our doors. We strive to make things better every single day because we are a team of enthusiastic partners with the idea to bring you something different.
Be different. Be CT Taqueria.
Please STAY TUNED on our Facebook page for updates about our presence at Atlanta Taco Festival!
This is a needed addition to North Sandy Springs. El Azteca and Tijuana Joe's are both fail af.
El Azteca and T Joes is so run down and nasty. We need a new Mex place. I wish a La Parilla would come to Sandy Springs.
