Chopt to Open in Chopped Off Portion of Former Petite Auberge at Toco Hills

After announcing yesterday that New York based quick serve salad concept Chopt will open in Buckhead's Tuxedo Festival, ToNeTo Atlanta can now confirm that a second lease has been signed for a location in Toco Hills shopping center.  Chopt at Toco Hills will be located in a roughly 3,100 square foot space, adjacent to Maggie's Neighborhood Bar, in a portion of what was previously French restaurant Petite Auberge
Chopt at The Arboretum Shopping Center in Charlotte, NC

In Toco Hills, Chopt joins a number of open or opening restaurants that have joined the center amidst a significant renovation of the historic intown shopping center.  Columbia, South Carolina based Edens, which also owns Tuxedo Festival, signed a 35 year ground lease on Toco Hills shopping center in late 2015, having purchased neighboring Toco Hills Promenade in 2006.

Spiller Park Coffee, an upscale coffee shop from chef Hugh Acheson opened its second overall location at Toco Hills last year in a portion of the former Shoe Center retail space.  The Local Pizzaiolo, a new quick serve pizza restaurant is expected to open in March in the former coin laundry while Hudson Grille plans to open [sometime] later this year in place of the former Famous Pub space.

Duck Donuts, already open in Tuxedo Festival, will also open later this year in Toco Hills Promenade, next to Menchies, which like Chopt, is also in Tuxedo Festival.

Houston based Salata, another salad concept, was previously rumored to be looking at space in Toco Hills but seemingly no longer is.  The mini Sweet Tomatoes-like "build your own salad" concept entered the Atlanta market last year with locations in Atlantic Station and Sandy Springs with a third location expected to open Thursday February 1 at Providence Square in East Cobb.  Other locations are planned for Liberty Village in Alpharetta, Peachtree Corners Town Center in Norcross and at "The Hub" (Peachtree Center) downtown.

Not far from Toco Hills, in Brighten Park, Conshohocken, Pennsylvania-based Saladworks plans to open what will be its first location in metro Atlanta.  The restaurant, which is expected to open in the coming weeks, will occupy a roughly 1,500 square foot space across from Zoës Kitchen.  A second location is planned for Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.  Additionally, the company was said to be "reviewing real estate options in Cumming, Alpharetta, Peachtree, Sandy Springs, Perimeter, Buckhead, Midtown and Toco Hills."

Chopt is also opening a [dedicated] commissary kitchen to service its planned and future Atlanta area restaurants. Chopt will join  Atlanta based organic meal delivery business Garnish & Gather, newly opened The Little Farmhouse Cafe and other food businesses in the converted office space at 3795 Presidential Parkway, alongside Stone Summit, in DeKalb county.

There are currently 52 Chopt locations open throughout New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, Washington D.C., North Carolina, Virginia and Maryland  with others in the works in  new markets such as Brentwood, Tennessee, near Nashville.  Chopt's largest market is New York, with 24 locations.

Sources indicate that both the Tuxedo Festival and Toco Hills Chopt locations should open late in the second  quarter or early in the third quarter of this year.

Are you pleased by the changes at Toco Hills?  Do you think Chopt will do well at Toco Hills?  What other restaurants, retailers or businesses would you like to see open in Toco Hills?

I remember three years ago when Sweet tomatoes filed for bankruptcy and shopping centers were running out salad bars to replace them with burger places...

What do people have against using Google to find their own answers as opposed to asking on a public forum?

A quick search of "brighten park Atlanta" yielded an answer in 0.05 seconds. 'shake my head'
