Over three years since ToNeTo Atlanta first announced their plans, Charlotte, North Carolina-based Bojangles' is finally about open their new location on Buford Highway in Chamblee. The new, approximately 3,400 square foot freestanding restaurant is expected to open Monday, May 7 in a freestanding building within Crossroads Village shopping center on Buford Highway near its intersection with Clairmont Road.
The new Bojangles' as seen early last month |
It's not entirely clear what the hold-ups were, but this blogger [and many nearby readers and residents] is pleased to see the restaurant finally open.
The Chamblee Bojangles', like those in Tucker, Doraville and Duluth, among others, is corporately owned. A franchised Bojangles' location planned for Memorial Drive near the old Avondale Mall-turned-Walmart in Decatur, has been indefinitely shelved, according to sources at the restaurant.
The new Chamblee Bojangles' will have a Biscuit Theater, a viewing area where customers can watch Bojangles’ Master Biscuit Makers making their famous Bojangles’ biscuits from scratch every 20 minutes.
Built about ten years ago, Crossroads Village is anchored by an Aldi grocery store, but also features over a dozen inline retailers and restaurants. The center previously had an outparcel El Pollo Loco restaurant which opened in the center in 2008, but closed in 2011, amidst the chain's struggles in the Atlanta market. The freestanding restaurant building later operated as an urgent care facility, but today is vacant.
Bojangles’ Inc. president and CEO Clifton Rutledge resigned due to "personal reasons" in early March. Former CEO and current Board Director James “Randy” Kibler has filled the role on an interim basis. Rutledge, who previously served as COO of Whataburger, was named Bojangles’ CEO in January 2014. He succeeded Kibler in the role.
Are you excited for the addition of a new Bojangles' to Chamblee? Where would you like to see Bojangles' open next? What would you like to see open in the former El Pollo Loco?

Very happy - live in Brookhaven and this location is slightly closer than the Doraville location when needing a Bo-Time fix.
Yesss it's BO TIME! :) If only Biscuitville could make its way to Georgia...
Bo time! Woo hoo! Anyway the former Pollo Loco turned urgent care is not empty, it now houses the real estate company that manages the center (for Burger King) and other properties and new home construction, called Talon. The center is owned by Burger King Corp and managed by talon according to the permitting notices on the spaces within that were formerly under construction.
So it will be across the Street from KFC? I was just at that shopping center this weekend but I came in from the Buford Highway entrances so I didn't see it. The main strip of stores has an amazing selection of Restaurants. Cuban, Latin Steak House Latin Fish, Bakery, Pizza and I think Cinese? Have only tried the first 3 so far, it's one fo to strip centers for food. Popeyes will be go if I want something to go
Exiting on the Buford highway or clairmont sides is highly unadvisable.
My wife and I have been anticipating the opening of this location since we heard the news right here 3yrs ago. We even stopped by there yesterday, thinking it had opened(I mean there was cars in the parking lot and a big banner outside) only to find out it had not opened yet...
