Iron Age Plans Cumming Debut

Korean barbecue restaurant Iron Age Steak House plans to open what will be its fourth Atlanta area location in Cumming in Forsyth County.  The new restaurant, planned for 872 Buford Highway, would open in place of what was most recently Silk Road Asian Kitchen and before that, Indigo Joe's.  The 8,000 square foot restaurant was built in 2003 as Buckhead Brewery & Grill, which closed in 2005.
Like other Korean BBQ eateries, Iron Age is a DIY, AYCE restaurant.  For those unfamiliar with the acronyms, most Korean BBQ restaurants provide grills at each seating area for customers to cook their own food (DIY) in an all you can eat (AYCE) format.   Korean BBQ eateries are growing in popularity given that they offer "experiential" dining, something that traditional restaurants are unable to do.

Iron Age opened their original Atlanta area location on Pleasant Hill Road at Mall Corners shopping center in Duluth in late 2009 and added a second location off Ernest Barrett Parkway in Kennesaw last summer.   The company also has locations in Centreville, Virginia and Rockville and Baltimore, Maryland.

The existing Iron Age restaurants in Georgia are open late seven nights a week, with Duluth open until 2AM Monday-Saturday and Kennesaw open until 2AM Friday and Saturday.  The two restaurants are open until midnight all other nights.

As ToNeTo Atlanta was first to report last summer, Iron Age is opening its third Atlanta area location at the Prado on Roswell Road in Sandy Springs.  The 8,100 square foot restaurant is opening in place of the longtime Kobe Steaks space and plans to open "soon."

Are you excited for the opening of Iron Age in Cumming?  Have you ever been to a Korean BBQ restaurant?  Where should Iron Age open next?

The hubris of people commenting about anything going in the suburbs on this site never ceases to amaze me. Live where you want. Let others live where they want. And I live in Brookhaven.

RE prices ITP make it impossible for many companies to do a PROFITABLE business there.

The new Prado location for Iron Age is technically ITP since it is inside of I-285 on Roswell Road
