The Red Eyed Mule, a popular Kennesaw area eatery, is in need of a new home after its landlord, Come-N-Get It, another restaurant, declined to offer the owners of the Mule a lease renewal. The two restaurants, in separate freestanding buildings at 1405 and 1409 Church Street Extension, serve similar fare, and it's entirely possible that The Mule has simply become too serious of a competitor. The Mule is open for breakfast and lunch only, until 2 p.m., while Come-N-Get It is open all day for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but for two thirds of the day, the two offer very similar fare.
Co-owners Sabra Wessel, a former flight attendant, and her husband Joseph Wood, opened The Mule on January 19, 2010 in a small storage shed originally built in 1950. The space is small but the hospitality is huge and the restaurant has garnered a tremendous local following.
Popular chef and television personality Alton Brown named the Mule's "Jake's Sloppy Slaw Burger," his favorite in Atlanta, showcasing it on Food Network's "The Best Thing I Ever Ate."
The owners of The Mule took to their Facebook page to announce their immediate need for a new location:
"Save The Mule Marietta!
Almost ten years ago we converted a small brick building on Church Street Extension into a special gathering place where good food and fellowship are consistently found. Our landlords, the owners of Come and Get it, are not renewing our lease. And we will be looking for a new stable effective December 31, We always have said we will keep the Mule in Marietta as long as possible because Marietta is a big part of the heart and soul of the Red Eyed Mule. Please help us Marietta, there have been too many special moments happen within that tiny brick building. From engagements to words of encouragement after a serious doctor visit and everything in between.

The post had received over 200 comments from patrons by 2PM Friday, many of whom suggested nearby relocation options, others suggested less likely relocation options or pledges to never support Come-N-Get It.
Some commenters suggested local Kennesaw sites or Cedartown or Powder Springs, while more "aspirational" patrons proposed relocating to Charlottesville, Virginia or Indianapolis, Indiana, among other out-of-state locales.
Among the interesting local options suggested were former locations of Dunkin' Donuts (Cobb Parkway), Huddle House (South Marietta Parkway) and Bojangles' (Canton Road).
The Red Eyed Mule is the second local Kennesaw restaurant to face relocation in the past year. ToNeTo Atlanta reported in April that the beloved Mountain Biscuit was leaving their outpost at the base of Kennesaw Mountain, later relocating to Dallas and renaming themselves Dallas Biscuit Co. Debbie Ingram and Jim Tidwell of Marietta Square's The Marietta Local opened Basecamp Pancakes & Provisions in place of Mountain Biscuit.

There are several places in the Townelake area of Woodstock that could use a good breakfast and lunch eatery.
West Cobb Near Lost Mountain would be phenomenal!
Did anyone read the article?? They want to stay in Marietta! I would like to see them relocate closer to the Square, or move further east towards East Cobb/Marietta area.
