[EXCLUSIVE] Park Bench Sold to Owners of Neighboring Bar in Buckhead Village

The popular Park Bench bar in Buckhead Village has been sold.  The bar, located at 34 Irby Avenue, was sold by owner Larry Hall to the Bent Digit, LLC, owners of neighboring bar Stagecoach.  The owners of Stagecoach plan to combine and renovate the two bars into a single space.  Their work will reportedly be completed in the coming months.
Established in 1994, Park Bench Buckhead was originally located at 256 East Paces Ferry Road.  The bar relocated to 34 Irby Avenue in 2011.  Its East Paces Ferry space and several others around it were demolished for the soon to open The Charles, a 57 unit luxury condo project.

There were also once Park Bench locations on North Decatur Road in Emory Village, where Double Zero operates today, and another on Chamblee Dunwoody Road in Dunwoody, where Novo Cucina operates today.

Stagecoach opened in 2002.

A sales listing from Steve Josovitz of The Shumacher Group indicates the Park Bench space is 5,000 square feet and saw 600-700 guests on average, but has seen up to 1,100-1,200 on busy nights. The space includes an outdoor patio that accommodates 300.  The listing further indicates that the space does not include a kitchen, but could, as it has a fully up to code grease trap.

What is your favorite Buckhead Village area bar?  Have you tried any of the new Buckhead Village restaurants such as Woody's CheeseSteaks, Velvet Taco or Silvano Pizza?  What former Buckhead Village restaurant, bar or retailer do you miss most?

Not much left in Buckhead bar district. Really hope some day a roadside marker goes up noting the historical significance the area once held for young people’s social life.
