[UPDATE] Flip Co-Founder Opening Big B's Fish Joint This Week in Sandy Springs

A new restaurant called Big B's Fish Joint plans to open Wednesday in Sandy Springs.   ToNeTo Atlanta first reported on the planned restaurant this past August.   The new fast-casual restaurant, which promises "genuine reel food," is opening in place of Verde Taqueria which closed at Gateway Sandy Springs along Roswell Road last July.   Barry Mills, co-founder of both FLIP Burger Boutique and upscale hot dog joint HD1, is behind the new seafood eatery.  Both the burger and hot dog joints were opened in partnership with chef Richard Blais, but the chef, who no longer lives in Georgia, is not involved in the new endeavor.
Mills previously partnered with design firm ai3 in creating both FLIP and HD1, but enlisted Ed Seiber of Seiber Design for Big B's.

Big B's is the second of three replacement restaurants to open in the mixed-use development.  Santorini Taverna, a Greek eatery, opened this past January in place of Cheeky, a Mexican eatery, which closed last September.  ToNeTo Atlanta was first to report in May that Colorado-based Snooze an A.M. Eatery is entering the market, too, with its first location set to open next spring in place of Urban Cookhouse, which closed in the project earlier this spring.

ToNeTo Atlanta stopped by the restaurant late Monday afternoon in hopes of reviewing the menu.  Surprisingly, despite the restaurant's imminent opening, Mills told us it was not ready.

The restaurant will reportedly open at 6pm on Wednesday but will eventually be open for lunch and dinner.

Little is known about Big B's and its menu, but Mills previously told us that he was inspired to create it after visiting successful west coast casual seafood eatery Slapfish which describes itself as "a modern seafood shack."  The Big B's website and social media channels suggest that the restaurant will feature oysters, poke, lobster rolls and salmon, among other offerings.
