[NOW OPEN] The Local Expedition Debuts Second Location in Sandy Springs

The owners of The Local Expedition, a fusion European and Asian inspired fast casual eatery, quietly opened their new Sandy Springs restaurant Tuesday.  Originally announced this past June, the restaurant was slated to open this past fall, but was later pushed to January.  The restaurant is located in the street level retail of Arabelle Perimeter (fka Hanover Perimeter), a mid-rise luxury apartment community at the corner of Hammond Drive and Peachtree Dunwoody Road in Sandy Springs.

Danny & Diana Kim opened the original The Local Expedition [known then as The Local Wood Fired Grill] along Windward Parkway in Alpharetta in early 2017.  The restaurant quickly attracted a following and currently has a perfect five star rating on Yelp.com with over 730 reviews.

The Sandy Springs location will mirror the hours of the Alpharetta location in that it, too, will open for lunch at 11AM and will be closed on Sundays, but will stay open an hour later, closing at 9PM rather than 8.

A third location of Local Expedition was slated for Revel, a large mixed-use project planned adjacent to the Infinite Energy Center in Duluth, but that location is, like the project itself, indefinitely shelved.  The Gwinnett County Convention and Visitors Bureau (GCVB) announced this past December that it was "pausing" the proposed mixed-use development and lead developer North American Properties Atlanta is no longer involved in the project.

The Sandy Springs restaurant is very much in "soft open" mode, so while we definitely encourage checking it out, we have been advised the restaurant is still "working out the kinks." A grand opening is expected in the coming weeks.  At Arabelle Perimeter, Local Expedition joins existing eateries Grub Burger Bar and Rush Bowls along with a nail salon, barbershop and upcoming fitness facility.

Have you been to the original The Local Expedition?  Are you excited for the opening of The Local Expedition in Sandy Springs?  Where would you like to see The Local Expedition open next?

The local Wood fired Grill is in my regular rotation. The food is always delicious and the staff is wonderful. This will be a great addition to the Sandy Springs area!

Hate to be a stickler but if it is in Sandy Springs it is a Sandy Springs or Perimeter Center Restaurant. True the DPerimeter Center district lies in Sandy Springs(Fulton) Dunwoody (DeKalb) and Brookhaven (DeKalb). This far Sandy Springs done a better job than Dunwoody and Brookhaven of developing a semi walkable mix of uses besides poorly connected offices and fenced off garden style apartments.
