Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams will in the coming months open its seventh metro Atlanta location. The new "scoop shop" is slated to open at The Battery Atlanta at Truist Park. Specifically, the new shop will open alongside upcoming tenants Savi Provisions, Jittery Joe's and One Medical in the street level of the new Aloft hotel building along Battery Avenue. Interestingly, the opening of Jeni's appears to be in addition to, rather than instead of, existing ice cream shop Häagen-Dazs, but that seems likely to change one way or another.
The addition of Jeni's is the latest in a series of announced or recently opened tenants at the development. River Street Sweets - Savannah's Candy Kitchen, and Good Game - Powered by Topgolf Swing Suite, recently opened with the latter currently closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Silverspot Cinema, ASW Whiskey Distillery, Fat Tuesday and Park Bench are all expected to open in the coming months.
Gio's Chicken Siciliana from Antico Pizza's Giovani Di Palma has closed permanently, while C. Ellet's Steakhouse, where a reported $5 million+ was spent on the original build-out, is now deep into a SERIOUS renovation.
The Atlanta Braves are expected to start a truncated 60-game 2020 MLB season July 23 or 24, but without any fans present in Truist Park. That said, The Battery Atlanta will be open and its stores, restaurants and bars sure could use the extra jolt of business.
The first Jeni's in Atlanta opened at Westside Provisions in October 2013, and has since been joined by subsequent locations on the Decatur Square, Krog Street Market and at Avalon in Alpharetta. Most recently, Jeni's debuted their fifth overall Atlanta area location at the Whole Foods Market-anchored Buckhead Market Place along West Paces Ferry Road in Buckhead. A fifth location we previously announced would be coming to the food hall at Coda in Midtown has been called off, but a separate one planned for Glenwood Park near the latest extension of the Atlanta BeltLine is moving forward.
Jeni Britton Bauer founded Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams in 2002. Today, the company operates forty-eight Scoop Shops in eleven states, plus three in the Washington D.C. area.
Are you excited to know Jeni's is coming to The Battery Atlanta? Do you think a 60 game MLB season will really happen? What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
