In August, ToNeTo Atlanta exclusively broke the news that Whataburger's metro Atlanta debut would be in Kennesaw. In October, we shared the news that the company also had sites in Cumming and Woodstock identified for new restaurants. On December 23, we shared news that Whataburger had a site in Buford in development. Now, we are pleased to confirm another site the chain has in its Atlanta-area pipeline.
The new Whataburger will be just under a mile from where Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin-based Culver's, another hugely popular regional burger chain, made its Atlanta area debut in 2016.
As Whataburger has done in several other newly announced markets, the chain typically waits for several leases to be executed before announcing the new market so that they can make the biggest media impact. That said, now with five locations confirmed and another rumored in Snellville, a formal announcement of the chain's Atlanta entry is likely to occur soon.
Are you excited for the opening of Whataburger in metro Atlanta? If Whataburger were able to secure a site inside the perimeter, where do you think that should be? Do you think Whataburger serves the best fast-food hamburger?

So excited to have ANOTHER whataburger to come in the metro area!!! absolutely the best burger in town and the honey butter chicken biscuit is delicious! hoping they start construction SOON
You have reported multiple times that Whataburger will make its Atlanta area "debut" soon. In fact, the first Whataburger in the Atlanta area was back in the late 80's-90's. It was at McFarland Rd. and Hwy. 9, just north of Alpharetta and close to Milton. Licensee was John Garland, who also operated multiple Applebees in the Houston, Tx. area.
Dunwoody is in dire need of fast food...
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I'm always telling people this!
@waideja - true statement!
Just what the metro Atlanta area needs, another over-priced mediocre fast-food burger place. Nothing healthy on the menu. Bland taste of factory processed food. And enough packaging materials for the food that will choke our environment in fill up the landfills. All these burger places aren't needed. Where are the good seafood and salad options?
Well, it may not be for everyone - I'm guessing vegans aren't their target markete, but it's good to have a lot of options and the best ones will flourish. I don't think Dawsonville is a prime area for a salad or fresh seafood place. I think Fish Tales has seafood as long as you like it deep fried...
So ready for the one in Dawsonville Georgia to be built. We had them in Bossier City Louisiana and I fell in love with their food and was so disappointed when I had to locate to Ga and there wasn't one here.
Is there a date for the Dawsonville location to open?
We lived in Dallas and went to Whataburger all the time. They are big burgers with very fresh meat and toppings!
That’s because Dawsonville is mainly blue collar and health conscious food chains don’t see added value in building there, I’m comparison to places like Johns Creek and Suwanee.
I’m really excited about Whataburger opening in Dawsonville! My husband and I haven’t had one since we lived in Mobile,Al 36 years ago!
Can’t wait till we get a whataburger in Dawsonville Ga. Yummy
Wow, you are misinformed! Lots of money around Dawsonville. Just a little farther out! I’ll drive from Talking Rock to Dawsonville to shop and eat!
I would love to see the jalapeƱo cheddar biscuit, a permanent staple at Whataburger. It is super super good and don’t forget about the North Georgia People we’d like Whataburger to.
