[LEAKED] Phipps Plaza Lands Two Luxury Labels

Atlanta will soon to be home to a rare boutique from designer Mike Amiri.  AMIRI currently has just four locations in New York City, Miami, Las Vegas and a flagship on Rodeo Drive in Los Angeles.  Later this year a fifth will debut in a nearly 6,000 square foot space at Phipps Plaza.  According to recently filed permits, the new AMIRI store will open on the first floor of the Nordstrom wing where it will occupy three smaller shop spaces recently vacated by other stores.

Clay Luxury Kids and Henig Furs, which occupied two of the three spaces, have reopened in new spaces on the first floor of the former Belk wing, while Ennyluap will reportedly reopen "elsewhere in the mall" later this summer, according to owner Amanda Williamson.  Victoria & Jane, a sub-brand of Ennyluap, is slated to open in the spring on the mall's second floor above Balenciaga.

Amiri began his career handcrafting stage pieces for rock & roll artists such as Axl Rose and Steven Tyler before launching his own line in 2014.  Currently the AMIRI brand includes menswear, womenswear and footwear.  In Atlanta, AMIRI is currently carried in both Neiman Marcus at Lenox Square in Buckhead and A Ma ManiĆ©re on Marietta Street near bartaco in West Midtown.

Another striking revelation from recently updated Simon leasing materials is the addition of Italian luxury brand Brunello Cucinelli to the mall.  Leasing documents indicate that Brunello will open in a roughly 3,000 square foot space in a portion of the former Jeffrey boutique near Saks Fifth Avenue.  The opening of Brunello at Phipps Plaza would mark the second marquee name from the Buckhead Village District to flee to the established, anchored and enclosed mall.  ToNeTo Atlanta broke news in 2019 that Tom Ford would be leaving the Buckhead Village District (then The Shops Buckhead Atlanta) to reopen at Phipps Plaza, which it did later that year.

In other Phipps Plaza news, existing tenant Bottega Veneta is also relocating to a portion of the former Jeffrey space across the hallway from its current home.  The new store, which according to permits filed with the City of Atlanta, measures 2,750 square feet, will make it slightly larger than the boutique's current 2,534 square foot space.

Phipps Plaza plans reviewed by ToNeTo Atlanta also indicate that C3, the firm behind the upcoming Citizens food hall in One Phipps Plaza, may also be set to operate something from the former Tavern at Phipps.  ToNeTo Atlanta exclusively broke news of Tavern's plans not to reopen in the mall in October 2020, and while the 6,200 square foot space has been vacant since, it's a well-located second-generation restaurant space that includes Peachtree frontage and a spacious patio.

On the mall's third floor, where once a food court existed, Moe's Southwest Grill, which moved to accommodate LEGOLAND Discovery Center in 2012, closed at the end of 2021, and has not been replaced.  Nearby, a former Subway is expected to reopen as Fresh Squeezed Juice Bar as of February 26.  The juice joint features cold pressed juices, smoothies, shots and acai bowls and is the sibling location to the original shop that owner Destiny Williams opened in East Cobb's Parkaire Landing in October 2020.   On the mall's first level, Starbucks remains closed.

When was the last time you visited Phipps Plaza?  Do you plan to visit Citizens, Nobu and Lifetime Athletic once they open at One Phipps Plaza?  Of tenants no longer open in Phipps Plaza, which was your favorite?

I always liked Parisians. It was sort of Nordstroms before there was Nordstroms. I also miss the nice, large and low-key food court. Also, really miss The Tavern loved having a late lunch and watching the ladies strut in and out of Saks.

I'm with Ham, haven't been there much since Parisian closed. I loved shopping there.

Last time I went to Phipps was Feb 2020. I don't plan to go anytime soon due to all the car breakins in Buckhead.

I miss the Phipps of 20 years ago when they had a Parisan, Lord & Taylor and a nice food court.

I go to Phipps frequently for Bottega & Veneta, Bally, and Gucci. Hopefully, more luxury stores open there!
