Peachtree Piedmont Crossing, aka "the Disco Kroger shopping center" will soon be known by a new name. Recently updated leasing materials from Regency Centers (NASDAQ: REG), the Jacksonville, Florida-based owner of the property, indicate the center is now being marketed as "Buckhead Landing." The new name is not yet present at the property itself and likely won't be for some time. Current anchor Kroger is slated to close in May 2023 and be replaced in 2024 by a new Publix, as ToNeTo Atlanta was first to report in July 2021. It's likely that little will be done in terms of significant signage updates until Kroger closes.
In Buckhead, where Regency already owns seven centers, Buckhead Landing will join two others with Buckhead in their name: Buckhead Station (TJ Maxx, Nordstrom Rack, Old Navy, Cost Plus World Market etc.) and Buckhead Court (Superica and Brack's Kitchen, etc.).
The updated Buckhead Landing site plan also indicates that longtime tenant Jason's Deli will soon close with space marked as "available soon." The roughly 5,000 square foot restaurant is being marketed as two separate restaurant spaces measuring 2,400 square feet and 2,508 square feet. Sources close to the center tell ToNeTo Atlanta that Jason's Deli will likely close sometime late this year. Beaumont, Texas-based Jason's Deli closed four Atlanta area locations in 2020 including those in Johns Creek, East Cobb, Cumberland Mall and Alpharetta. Following the Buckhead closure, the chain will continue to operate fourteen locations in Georgia including those in Tucker, Norcross, Dunwoody, Midtown and Decatur.
There are currently ten vacant spaces in the Buckhead center including those created by the closures of Marco's Pizza, Burgerfan (formerly Sushi Bar Yu-Ka), Chase Bank and Sweet Samba, a waxing salon. The roughly 20,000 square foot junior anchor space to the right of Kroger has been largely vacant since former tenant Cost Plus World Market relocated to sibling center Buckhead Station in 2016. The space is currently the temporary home of Candytopia, an immersive candy museum, attraction and retail store.
One intriguing potential replacement for the former Cost Plus World Market space would be Homesense, a HomeGoods sibling store operated by TJX Companies that has not yet made its Atlanta debut. The roughly 20,000 square foot store is slightly smaller than the company's 24,000 square foot average store size, but puts it in a desirable market, with sibling stores Marshalls, T.J.Maxx, and HomeGoods all in nearby centers.
In addition to those spaces that are currently marked "available" or vacant, sources close to the center indicate that several other spaces could be replaced as Regency works to create the most compelling mix of tenants. Jamison Shaw Hairdressers as well as popular restaurants Piu Bello, a pizza joint, and Urban Wu, a Chinese restaurant specializing in Szechuan and Cantonese cuisine, are among the tenants expected to remain in the center.
Renderings of the planned center upgrades and renovations suggest that the former Chase Bank, an approximately 4,700 square foot endcap space, could become a full-service restaurant space complete with outdoor dining and improved pedestrian access.

Most likely positive moves. Last time I went there was to get an Oreck vacuum cleaner repaired. I'm showing my age a little, but I remember the very end of the Limelight. It seems there were other bars/clubs in that Center then, but things are a little fuzzy. I also remember a large music store that was there for a short time. Those were good times for Buckhead Nightlife, but everything eventually gets too popular and destroys itself.
You must be thinking of Tower Records.
Publix will be great but I really miss Jason's. It was my go-to restaurant when I stay in Buckhead. Wonderful salad bar!
