A former suburban Arby's restaurant is being targeted by Chipotle for yet another new location. The former Arby's, located at 3900 Brookside Parkway just off Old Milton Parkway, has been dark since early 2020, when the Atlanta-based chain known to have "the meats," abruptly shuttered its roughly two decade old location.
The application submitted to the City of Alpharetta indicates that the Chipotle is seeking to amend the Master Planned Development which suggests that the drive-thru use condition may have expired following the Arby's closure and now needs to be "renewed." The request is due to be heard by the Alpharetta City Council on August 22.
Arby's has shuttered several Atlanta area locations in recent years. A former Arby's in Roswell became a Fifth Third Bank while a former Kennesaw Arby's became a new Mint Dental office. In Buford, a former Arby's was demolished in recent months to be rebuilt as the greater metro Atlanta's first Raising Cane's.
For its part, Chipotle has been incredibly active in metro Atlanta as it looks to expand with locations featuring its "Chipotlane" order ahead pick-up window. ToNeTo Atlanta exclusively reported in 2019 that new Chipotlanes were coming to former Boston Market and Pollo Tropical locations in East Cobb and Austell, respectively. With those locations now open, ToNeTo Atlanta has in recent months reported that the Newport Beach, California-based company is planning to open at least three new Chipotlane-equipped locations in Cobb County alone. Another new Chipotlane is coming to a former dry cleaner in Dunwoody Village.
Chipotle currently operates a pair of traditional restaurants in Alpharetta: 10910 Haynes Bridge Road and 5250 Windward Parkway.
According to the Chipotle website, the company currently has 80 locations in Georgia, equal to the number found in the brand's founding state of Colorado, but a far cry from the more than 430 restaurants in California. Overall, Chipotle operates more than 3,000 restaurants across the country save for Alaska and Hawaii where the company is noticeably absent.
Are you excited for the planned opening of Chipotle in Alpharetta? Have you had good or bad experiences with the "Chipotlane?" What other restaurants would you like to see open in Alpharetta?

This is the least exciting restaurant to locate in that space. Does it really make sense to have Chipotle's right off exits 9, 10, and 11? I was hoping something like a PDQ or Raising Cane's would fill this space. Shame, as that space has been empty for quite a while now, and there aren't many fast options on that part of Old Milton outside of CFA, McD's, and Wendys.
With locations already on Haynes and Windward, why do you need one on old Milton? Give me Raising Cains.
Better than a boarded up building but would have rather seen it become a Raising Canes or Guthries or almost anything else besides another burrito joint.
PDQ to ATL would be BIG
I want to put Culver’s there
I love it, awesome addition to Old Milton parkway choice of restaurants.
Because it’s yum yum
