[EXCLUSIVE] "Hotly" Anticipated West Midtown Restaurant Opening Just Days Away

At long last, Atlanta's newest location of Hattie B's Hot Chicken is poised to open.  The restaurant, located at 711 10th Street in West Midtown, was first announced in August 2019, at which time plans called for it to open in spring 2020.  The pandemic and other factors derailed those plans and while we had been told in late 2021 that the opening was on track for March 2022, that didn't happen either.

Now, finishing touches are nearly complete and the restaurant is slated to open Wednesday, August 3.

The new Hattie B's is the second in Atlanta for the Nashville-based chain.  The company's first Atlanta area location debuted in July 2018 at 299 Moreland Avenue in Little Five Points.

According to previously released information, the new West Midtown outpost at nearly 4,900 square feet (plus an outdoor patio) is the chain's largest location.  Additionally, Atlanta soon to have two locations, will be the company's second largest market to Nashville, where the company operates four restaurants.  Hattie B's also has locations in Birmingham, Memphis, Dallas, and inside The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas.

Hattie B's opening comes as not one, but two, new hot chicken brands born in Atlanta during the pandemic have started to expand.  Scoville Hot Chicken, which opened its first location in Sandy Springs December 2020, has now expanded via franchising to include nine locations in Georgia and one location in New York with more on the way.  Howlin' Willy's, an offshoot brand from Atlanta's beloved Willy's Mexicana Grill, opened their first location within the existing Willy's adjacent to Piedmont Park in July 2021.  A second location subsequently opened within the Willy's in Hapeville, with a Willy's source telling ToNeTo Atlanta that additional shared space and standalone units are currently in the works.

Are you excited for the opening of Hattie B's in West Midtown?  Where is your favorite place for hot chicken in metro Atlanta?  Where would you like to see Hattie B's open next?

Been by Wing Guru in Town Brookhaven 2-3 times in last 2 weeks, and all work has stopped. Maybe they finally came to their senses and are not going to open that location?

I wish them prosperity and wellness however Scoville has several issues that raise a red flag, firstly they are saturating the market with locations, there are locations seemingly in every area. Their concept is all hype that rides the wave of Nashville Hot Chicken but with no originality or substance. They are cooking up and serving literally low grade non descript frozen chicken tenders from US Foods or Sysco and tossing it in chicken wing DRY RUB. That’s it. Really nog a good product at all. The franchise owners are getting screwed by hype. I am thinking and hoping it’s at least a very low barrier to entry given the entire operation has nothing but a couple of aluminum tables from Costco and a deep fryer. The front counter is literally just an aluminum table which is the only separation between the front of the house and the kitchen. this is all based on the Sandy Springs location which supposedly was one of the very first locations so I am thinking the others are just like it.

I noticed today another coming soon sign for Scoville at Chamblee station by Whole Foods and chipotle, next to the Starbucks in formerly the Menchie’s space, just being honest, I wish them success however there is no way this (less than mediocre) place will be able to sustain a regular business and keep up with the rent in that location. I’m starting to think this is some wealthy persons “hobby” because they are going to lose their shirt. I did read that the ownership has other concepts, so there.

Absolutely no one is ever at the Scoville on Piedmont in Buckhead -- the old Lovie's. We go to that Chipotle weekly and rarely see a single person walking in or out of that Scoville. #Deathwatch

Hobby? sounds more like a grift!

I'm thinking this Nashville Hot chicken thing is like the next cupcake wars. It's fine if you and a few are the only players but when the market is flooded with options on a specific type of item it dies and so does the business. As they say don't put all your eggs in one basket. Hopefully they will offer other items that will keep them afloat. If the food is so hot and spicy than you can't taste the meat itself because your mouth and lips are on fire! So the meat could be chicken or turkey or tofu. Who cares ... Your mouth and lips are on fire! LoL. Good luck ... Next!

or you can be just like Hillary Clinton and in her own words carry hot sauce with you everywhere you go!

I tried the Joella's Hot Chicken at Akers Mill when it first opened and it was just meh. Had a couple Nashville hot chicken sandwiches when I was in NAshville this summer. They were just okay too. Popeyes has the best spicy chicken sandwich in my opinion. If you haven't tried it yet go do so - it's almost worth all the hype it raised a while back.

Had hot chicken once at the place in Chamblee. Don't understand the concept. The chicken is so spicy you can't taste it. Might as well put the hot sauce on a saltine cracker.
