[CLOSURE ALERT] Two Cheeseburger Bobby's Locations Have Closed, One May Reopen

Cheeseburger Bobby's locations in both Peachtree Corners and Sandy Springs have closed in recent weeks with sources telling ToNeTo Atlanta that the franchisor of the locally owned business may be looking to reopen at least one of them.  Cheeseburger Bobby's was started by Bobby Stoll, who along with his brother Richard, co-founded and later sold the Stevi B's Pizza Buffet chain.  (Richard now operates the two unit Huey Luey's chain)

In Peachtree Corners, Cheeseburger Bobby's occupies a 2,762 square foot space in Peachtree Square shopping center (6050 Peachtree Parkway), while in Sandy Springs the restaurant was in a 2,012 square foot space in Hammond Springs (5975 Roswell Road), a small center at the corner of Hammond Drive and Roswell Road.  The Peachtree Corners restaurant opened in late 2012 while the Sandy Springs location opened in mid-2013 (in place of Boardwalk Burgers & Fries).

Local readers tell ToNeTo Atlanta that the Sandy Springs location closed at the end of 2022 before reopening in early 2023 but closed again in recent weeks.  The Peachtree Corners restaurant closed in late 2022 and has not reopened. The Norcross restaurant, owned by the same franchisee as the Sandy Springs restaurant, reportedly performed well but suffered from bad management, highlighted by a second failing health department score this past September.

The restaurant in Peachtree Corners is still marked as occupied on the shopping center group's website, whereas the space in Sandy Springs is marked as vacant and available.

Elsewhere in the greater metro Atlanta area, local real estate firm The Shumacher Group is marketing an existing Cheeseburger Bobby's in Cartersville for sale.  Cheeseburger Bobby's locations have previously closed in Buckhead (Chastain Park), Suwanee, and Rome, among others.

According to the Cheeseburger Bobby's website, the chain continues to operate nine locations in Georgia: Augusta, Canton, Cartersville, Cumming, Flowery Branch, Hiram, Kennesaw, Marietta, and Woodstock.  The company also operates a single location in Huntsville, Alabama.  Both the Peachtree Corners and Sandy Springs restaurants have been removed from the corporate website.

Are you surprised to see Cheeseburger Bobby's close?  Do you think Cheeseburger Bobby's offers a "better burger?"  If either location remains closed, what would you like to see open in their place?

Please share your thoughts below.

I read that the Peachtree Corners location closed after a couple of bad health inspections, which is a shame. I really hope they can correct the problems and reopen. I really like that place.

I would like to see Mike’s Hot Dogs open at the Sandy Springs location after closing their restaurant at the shopping center across Roswell Rd. Loved their dogs and fries and onion rings!!!

The Norcross location really went downhill at the end of the year which is a shame because it used to be a good location.

We were big fans of Bobby’s Peachtree Corners store but their last month or so was a drastically downhill slide. They were repeatedly out of drinks, out of napkins, no mayo, no sauces, etc. Didn’t know if it was poor mgmnt or supply chain issues.

good. terrible food in a flooded burger market.

I don't think Richard is involved in the Huey's any longer. I know the Roswell Road location was sold and is being converted.

The place doesn't advertise anymore. Either you are that good, or you see the writing on the wall. In this case, the latter. Food was meh.

FYI you can add the Bobby's location on Cobb Parkway -41 Kennesaw, is closed as well. Sign went up last year and it says will reopen in the Spring of 2023.

Never tried it, there are a bunch of burger joints around town.

The sandy springs location was good and then the last two times we went it was awful. Meat tasted bad. Selling shrimp burgers?? Swiping credit cards on a phone. Fries were bad. It was messy looking. Total downhill. Bring back how it was and it was good.

I can't say I am surprised. I used to love them. Then they went with much smaller burgers, and it never was the same. With all the competition, they better "beef" things up a bit, or they will be gone soon.

Both locations needed the boot. Always had sticky floors and pick up orders were never ready on time. Good riddance!

Kennesaw is currently closed with a sign saying "Will re-open early 2023" :-(

One of their flagship stores in Kennesaw has been closed for a few months. Said it was going to be open again in "early 2023," but it's not open yet.

On the flip side, the Cumming location is delicious. New owners came in there and it's been better than ever. To me it's the closest we have to Fuddruckers and their topping bar is pretty nice.

Peachtree Corners/Norcross store no longer on their website either.

The one on Cobb Parkway in Kennesaw is reopening as Buffalo Luke's, a wings/tenders/burgers concept that's from the same people behind Bobby's.

So sad to see the Sandy Springs location closed. We used to eat there multiple times every week but stopped going after the quality of employees dramatically went downhill. The restaurant was often dirty and the employees didnt seem to care. We do understand good help is really hard to find these days and it sickens us so many business have suffered from this.

Canton GA location was always consistently good over the years but you're only as good as your hired help !!
