[UPDATE] Sandy Springs Shopping Center Gets New Name, Upgrades

Just over a year after changing hands, a Sandy Springs shopping center has gotten a new name.  The center formerly known as Sandy Springs Gateway has been rechristened "Chastain Market," according to new signage recently installed at the Sprouts Farmers Market-anchored center.

Atlanta-based real estate firms Connolly and Coro Realty Advisors partnered and paid $40.5M for the 121,000 square foot center at the corner of Roswell and West Wieuca Roads in Chastain Park.  The deal closed February 14, 2022.

The center, developed by Core Property in 2015, was 82% leased at the time of the sale, with the new owners looking to reposition it as a gathering hub for the surrounding community.

“The property has huge potential to become the number one high-energy, 18-hour destination in the neighborhood,” Coro Realty President Robert Fransen said in a statement at the time of the purchase. “Our goal is to elevate the overall visitor experience no matter the duration of their stay. We are currently evaluating capital improvement plans that will enhance the consumer experience."

To that end, the owners in recent months added faux grass around two parts of the center and also closed what had been a "gateway" along Roswell Road near Tupelo Honey Cafe to create more of a courtyard feel.  The owners also painted white what had been a natural "red" brick wall.

Spaces in the center formerly occupied by Blast (closed September 2022) and Santorini (closed July 2021) remain vacant and available for lease.  However, a site plan for the center and newly updated signage suggests that a new location of Alloy Personal Training is opening near Whole Dog Market and Capital City Club has leased more than 11,000 square feet on the center's second floor for a temporary offsite fitness center while the club's primary fitness facility undergoes a renovation.

Additionally, Greenville, North Carolina-based United Community Bank recently opened a new branch in the center in place of SouthState Bank, which closed its branch this past year.

Existing tenants in the center include Big B's Fish Joint, Taka Sushi and Passion, Chipotle, Tupelo Honey Cafe, Kale Me Crazy, Corks & Caps, CVS and Snooze an A.M. Eatery, among others.

What other types of shops or restaurants would you like to see open in Chastain Market?  What is currently your favorite eatery in the center?  Are you pleased by the changes at the center?

Please share your thoughts below.

When red brick is painted white, it looks like the lifeblood has been sucked out of the structure. I fail to understand how this practice has become so popular.

We need something to replace sprouts

Let’s get a Trader Joe’s in where Sprouts used to be. It would KILL IT.

More restaurants or a brewery/bar that has live music would be great!

They need to put Trader Joe’s in place of Sprouts. EVERYONE would go! And then they need to figure out a way to add more greenspace to the center. Everyone would go there if there was more greenspace.
