[EXCLUSIVE] Local Group Seems to Have Big Plans for Little Rey

Atlanta is getting yet another Little Rey.  Already with a location open in Piedmont Heights, a second planned for Buckhead, and a third planned for Johns Creek, a new Little Rey is planned for another OTP community.  The new Little Rey will come to an as yet unbuilt outparcel of Hammond Exchange shopping center, along Hammond Drive, just off Roswell Road, a few blocks north of I-285 in Sandy Springs.  

Hammond Exchange, purchased in late 2018 by Ponce City Market owner Jamestown, is anchored by Whole Foods Market, Marshalls and Petco and this past February welcomed a new franchise of Crumbl cookies.   Ford Fry opened the original Little Rey in a converted onetime bank branch at the intersection of Piedmont Road and Piedmont Avenue in Piedmont Heights in early 2019.  

The menu at Little Rey is centered on tacos, including breakfast, with additional offerings including salads, quesadillas, chicken wings and more.   

ToNeTo Atlanta first got wind of the planned restaurant a few weeks ago and noted "Exchange Sandy Springs Little Rey, LLC" was registered with the Georgia Secretary of State's office this past March.  Although no one would comment on the record, the lease with Little Rey owner Rocket Farm Restaurants was reportedly recently finalized. 

The new Little Rey will be located between the group's existing Superica on Roswell Road in Chastain Park and their new unit which opened this past February in Ashford Lane in Dunwoody.  

ToNeTo Atlanta exclusively reported in April that Geoff Melkonian of Breadwinner Cafe plans to open a taco joint of his own - Tailgate Taqueria & Bar - which is slated to open later this winter, adjacent to Breadwinner and less than a mile from the planned Little Rey.  

The other two aforementioned locations of Little Rey are planned for a portion of the Northcreek Office park complex along Northside Parkway in Buckhead as well as the upcoming "Medley" project along Johns Creek Parkway in Johns Creek.  Another Little Rey is coming to the River Oaks neighborhood of Houston in 2024.  

ToNeTo Atlanta was first to break news that Fry plans to close his King+Duke restaurant in Buckhead after which Delbar plans to open in its place.  Fry is reportedly shifting his attention to his multi-unit concepts, chief among them Superica and Little Rey.  

Superica and Little Rey, both Mexican restaurants, are seen as the group's growth concepts, ones that can be easily replicated in diverse markets and are easier to operate with better margins than some of the group's more upscale restaurants.
