After several unexpected delays, the new downtown Alpharetta location of Hen Mother Cookhouse is almost ready to open. The new location at 50 S. Main Street replaced Holmes, which closed this past November after about five years in business. The owners of Hen Mother purchased the business from the owners of Holmes and as of last fall, planned to open this past spring.
Core items on the restaurant's menu are generally static but chef/owner Soraya Khoury often introduces or features new and recurring specials that may be available one day and gone the next.
Khoury, an Illinois native, who had been working and living in Napa, California, was recruited in 2016 by Rumi's owner Ali Mesghali to be the Executive Chef at his then soon to open Avalon outpost. A residential real estate meeting at Farmhouse Coffee in Johns Creek would change her career trajectory. In May 2018, just a few months removed from her role as Executive Chef at Rumi's Kitchen Avalon, Soraya Khoury, along with her husband and sister, opened the original Hen Mother Cookhouse in place of Farmhouse Coffee at 11705 Jones Bridge Road.
In the six years since, the breakfast and lunch spot has garnered a large following with some patrons making weekly pilgrimages from many miles away to dine at the restaurant.

This is going to do really well in that location.
Not going back. Too many rules .....tiny tables...patrons crammed in too close!. Must leave on their time !
I've never been - please tell me about some of the "rules".
Their food is amazing! Excited that this will be a bigger space to accommodate more guests.
I’m sure they will be alright with you being a patron.
Not OP but I’ve been a few times and it’s nothing absurd. Mostly to accommodate the large rush with the small space. No disrespect intended but judging by the way they type, I assume they are older and may be used to the Chilis-esque restaurants that had their heyday 20 years ago.
Actually we preferred Shoneys and Howard Johnsons
Is this a relocation or a 2nd spot?
Amazing good! So excited to see this new location on this side of Alpharetta. It should do really well in this location.
I love Hen Mothers. Great food. An amazing marriage of flavors that create a flavor beyond expectations.
Food good, kinda quirky, I don't like reading 20 "rules" before I get in the door. Noisy, need a shoehorn to fit into the tables, no thanks.
This is my favorite restaurant OTP. The food is phenomenal. We only do take out on the weekends because it is soon noisy at the one in John's Creek and they blast the music so you can try to have a private conversation, but that makes it harder to hear.
However we went during the week the first thing in the morning and it was very pleasant. No music and only 4 other patrons. I suggest you try during the week and I hope the new location is better for larger crowds.
Congratulations on their second spot πππππππππ₯
