Jim 'N Nick's BBQ restaurant in Acworth is closing at the end of the year. The restaurant, located at 3329 Cobb Parkway NW, opened in late 2015 and occupied a 3,905 square foot endcap space in a three tenant outparcel.
Birmingham-based Jim 'N Nick's BBQ has since July 2017 been owned by Atlanta-based Roark Capital Group, a huge private equity firm with ownership stakes in more than two dozen businesses. The BBQ chain currently includes more than 50 locations across six southern states, including eighteen in Georgia. ToNeTo Atlanta has, in months past, reported on two new units planned for metro Atlanta, including The Avenue West Cobb in West Cobb (slated to open in December) and an outparcel of Northlake Mall in Tucker (slated to open "in 2025)."
Despite the Acworth closure, Cobb County is still home to Jim 'N Nick's restaurants in East Cobb and on South Cobb Drive as well as the upcoming West Cobb unit off Dallas Highway.
Steve Josovitz of The Shumacher Group is marketing the Acworth restaurant space on behalf of the property's landlord. In the listing, Josovitz indicates the space is available as of January 1, 2025 with monthly rent of $13.765.13 and that "no key money" is required of any prospective new tenant. The space comes equipped with both a drive-thru and a 1,500 gallon grease trap.
When Jim 'N Nick's closes, it will leave the immediate stretch of Cobb Parkway in Acworth with one barbecue restaurant open and another coming soon. Bar-B-Cutie SmokeHouse, a Brentwood, Tennessee-based franchise, has an existing location about one mile from Jim 'N Nick's with a new location of Dublin, Ohio-based City Barbeque coming soon a little more than a mile away.
Are you surprised to see Jim 'N Nick's in Acworth close? What is your favorite barbeque joint in metro Atlanta? What would you like to see open in place of Jim 'N Nick's in Acworth?

There are actually 2 others BBQ restaurants (Bar-B-Cutie and Ziegler's) in close proximity to this one closing, and 1 more on the way (City BBQ). Way too much BBQ in that area, I understand wanting to get out.
I've only eaten at the S Cobb Dr. location. It was good, and always seemed to have a pretty robust stream of customers. Would like to see a good BBQ closer in town that isn't trying to be a trendy concept (like Smokeshow). Pig 'N Chick is my go-to.
Is Jim and Nick's still planning a location as an outpost at Northlake Mall?
Exactly, came here to say this.
It's relocating to the Avenues. Maybe you should include that in the article.
Moving to the Avenues
Are you serious? Did you read the article?
Yes, as noted in this article.
Meat & Vegetables buffet
Won’t ever read them again!
There's a Jim n' Nicks on Windward in Alpharetta too that took a long time to open after an extensive buildout. I know people who have gone and weren't impressed, so we'll see how long that location lasts.
Prices there are way too high. 38.00 for lunch for two
I just saw this (11/9/24) article and it was timely as I just ate there yesterday. Very disappointing quality. Fatty ribs, soggy fries, warm potato salad, sides containers extremely small, more of a sample rather than a portion.
Disappointed to hear this.. It's one of my go to restaurants when I need a quick weeknight family dinner.
I'll miss it I really liked eating there
