Fresh off the recent opening of a new location of Brooklyn Bagel Bakery & Deli in Brookhaven comes news that the Atlanta-based company plans to open a new location in Sandy Springs.
The center was built in 2017 and is also home to Starbucks, Tin Drum Asian Kitchen, Buffalo Wild Wings GO, Tropical Smoothie Cafe, and Cava Digital Kitchen, among other tenants.
The original Brooklyn Bagel & Deli opened on Haynes Bridge Road in Johns Creek in 1997 and is operated by father and son Alan and Avi Ahlzadeh. It would be two dozen years before the Ahlzadehs' second location opened. ToNeTo Atlanta was first in late 2020 to report on the planned Midtown location along Piedmont Avenue at Ansley Mall. The Midtown restaurant opened in August 2021 and occupies a former Panera [Bread], spanning more than 4,300 square feet. The Ansley Mall eatery is more than double the size of the Johns Creek shop, which measures just over 2,000 square feet.
In Brookhaven, Brooklyn Bagel opened in May and occupies both a former Starbucks and a former UPS Store, with a combined square footage of just over 3,100 square feet. The eatery describes itself as a "fast casual New York deli and bakery" where they make all of their bagels from scratch, daily, using the traditional kettle boiling method. This preparation ensures that their bagels are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.
With three locations open and a fourth on the way, ownership last year leased a production facility just off Roswell Road, about three miles north of the new cafe, also in Sandy Springs. The company is also scouting metro Atlanta for additional locations as it expands into franchising.
Brooklyn Bagel & Deli, Einstein Bros. Bagels, and The Bronx Bagel Buggy, among other local bagel shops, participate in "Bagel Rescue," a local non-profit launched in 2020 which works to "rescue" surplus bagels and deliver them to food pantries and food banks feeding those in need. The organization supports more than 150 partner agencies and has made more than 18,000 deliveries, rescuing more than 2.5 million bagels and pastries.
Are you excited about the opening of Brooklyn Bagel & Deli in Sandy Springs? Who in Atlanta do you think makes the best bagel? What local bagel shop would you most like to see expand?

We ate the Brookhaven location for the first time today....one word...DELICIOUS!!!! Great addition to the shopping center along with the new Publix set to open there in July.
The Ahlzadehs know what they are doing and how to make a business successful. Alan and his brother Joseph are excellent businessmen. Congratulations to Alan and Avi.
