One of the many restaurant vacancies along Howell Mill Road is getting a familiar new tenant. Cultivate Food + Coffee, which closed its nearby restaurant this past December after five years in business, has leased the former Snooze space to reopen!
Located at 980 Howell Mill Road Suite #1, the roughly 3,700 square foot restaurant space is situated at the bottom of The Osprey, a mid-rise multifamily development. Snooze an A.M. Eatery closed in the West Midtown building this past January.
ToNeTo Atlanta exclusively reported in April that Big Bad Breakfast is replacing the original Cultivate, although work on the space has progressed at what some have described as a glacial pace.
Cultivate in August closed its restaurant at The Battery Atlanta with J. Alexander's Kitchen & Bar slated to open in its place next spring.
Cultivate's planned return to West Midtown comes at a time of significant upheaval along Howell Mill Road and on the Westside, collectively. Recent months have brought not only the original Cultivate closure, and that of Snooze, but also the closure of longtime neighborhood breakfast spot West Egg Cafe after more than two decades in business.
Culinary Dropout, Postino, Humble Pie, Pour Taproom, Bartaco, Bastone, and Knuckies Hoagies have also recently closed, while Le Fat, Slim+Husky, L.O.A. Social Club, Superica, Damsel, Boxcar Betty's, and Wagamama closed in West Midtown during 2024. Gezzo's Cantina also closed in Westside Village in the so-called "Upper Westside" at the end of 2024.
Cultivate is at least the fourth restaurant to lease space in one of the many area vacancies. ToNeTo Atlanta reported August 2 that Ghee Indian Kitchen is opening in the former Wagamama. We also reported June 19 via our Instagram page that local Haitian eatery Zeke's Kitchen & Bar is opening in the space most recently occupied by Slim+Husky. This pair is in addition to the aforementioned Big Bad Breakfast in the original Cultivate space.
Are you excited for the return of Cultivate? Do you think Cultivate will find success in its new space? What is your favorite breakfast spot in Atlanta?
