[EXCLUSIVE] Three Dollar Cafe on the Move in Chastain Park, Chicken Chain Eyeing Current Location

Three Dollar Cafe is on the move in Chastain Park. After nearly two decades at 4475 Roswell Road, the popular sports bar will soon move to a bigger space nearby.  The move is expected to take place during the first half of 2026.

Three Dollar Cafe has held court at its current Chastain Park location since 2006 after it moved from its original Buckhead home at 3002 Peachtree Road, about three miles away.  The original Buckhead location was previously home to Buckhead Beach, and before that, Animal Crackers, during which time a Ferris wheel was located within the building. (The building still stands but is currently underutilized)

"We have been serving our community, Atlanta’s favorite wings and homemade recipes & sauces since 1982 and specifically from 2006 at the Chastain location. The Chastain community has embraced us for the last 19 years and our loyal customers have become an extension of our own family - and we have seen their families grow and become multi generational customers! It’s special and we are fortunate to feel so welcomed and engrained in a neighborhood," said Kelly Woo, owner of the Chastain location, in a statement provided to ToNeTo Atlanta.

Three Dollar Cafe will be moving into the former Snooze restaurant at Chastain Market.  The breakfast and brunch eatery closed its freestanding location within the Trader Joe's-anchored shopping center this past April after about four years in business.

"We are excited to be moving the Chastain location just across the street, to ensure and protect our ability to remain a long term local dining and gathering spot serving this community, as well as our growing customer base. The new and larger free standing space will allow us to expand our offerings and provide a more comfortable and enjoyable dining experience, without vacating the immediate area, as customer service and longevity within this community, is our top priority. We have always been committed to creating a memorable experience, and the move will allow us to refresh our space to provide an improved atmosphere."  Woo added.

The new location will provide a larger dining area and larger kitchen, but a slightly smaller patio and shared, rather than dedicated, parking.  It joins Books A Million as upcoming tenants in the Trader Joe's center.

South Korean immigrant Won Woo opened the first Three Dollar Cafe at 8595 Roswell Road in Sandy Springs in 1983. He started the business with the name Three Dollar Cafe to honor his story of immigrating to the U.S. from South Korea in 1979 with just three dollars in his pocket. Woo's son Joseph Woo now leads the company as its CEO with Kelly, his ex-wife, the owner of the Chastain location.

Three Dollar has over the years grown to ten locations around the state, including one that opened in 2023 at Coolray Field in Buford.

As for the current Three Dollar Cafe location, several sources suggest that growing chicken chain Raising Cane's has expressed an interest in it, but there is reportedly no deal done yet.

Fulton County tax records indicate that the property is actually two parcels:  256 Dilbeck Place and 4475 Roswell Road, measuring roughly .45 acres and .53 acres, respectively.

Raising Cane's, which has in recent years added new locations in Buford, Dacula, Snellville, Duluth, and Woodstock, plans to open new locations in place of former Krystal restaurants on Piedmont Road in Buckhead and on Northside Drive in West Midtown.  The company also plans to open new restaurants in place of an existing Red Lobster on Cobb Parkway in Smyrna and on Barrett Parkway in Kennesaw, as part of a larger redevelopment.  A proposed unit on Ashford Dunwoody Road in Dunwoody would replace a former Wells Fargo bank but is still making its way through the zoning process.

The Buckhead site is small and would need to be approved for a new drive-thru and is also adjacent to the $500K+ Dalston townhomes, which were completed in recent years by Empire Communities.  That said, it's worth noting that the property is located within the City of Atlanta and not the drive-thru averse City of Sandy Springs.

Are you excited for Three Dollar to relocate and expand?  Do you think Raising Cane's should open on the site of the current Three Dollar Cafe?  What is your favorite sports bar in metro Atlanta?
