[EXCLUSIVE] Another Indian Restaurant is Opening in Dunwoody in 2026

A new restaurant has finally been signed to open in the the former Alon's space in Park Place (4505 Ashford Dunwoody Road)  and it's not what many might have expected.  Simply South Pure Indian Vegetarian, a full service Indian restaurant from Texas, will in 2026 open in a large portion of the former cafe and bakery.

An updated site plan for the Edens-owned center indicates that Simply South will occupy a roughly 7,500 square foot space in the dated but "trying to make fetch a thing" shopping center. That said, a visit to the property itself suggests that Simply South will occupy a smaller portion of space with a demising wall having been installed down the middle of the former Alon's space.

The first Simply South opened in a former Mattito's Tex-Mex in Irving, Texas in December 2024.  The company added locations this past August in a former Chili's in Frisco, Texas and in October in a former California Pizza Kitchen in Warrenville, Illinois.  The company's website indicates that the Dunwoody (Atlanta) location is one of seven in the immediate pipeline.

The Dunwoody restaurant is expected to open during the second quarter of 2026.

Simply South joins a surprisingly crowded market for Indian fare in the Perimeter/Dunwoody area.  Desi District, another Texas-based chain, opened this past June in the former Chili's in Ashford Place.  Hyderabad House Atlanta-Biryani Place is also in the area, occupying the former Applebee's at Ashford Lane.  Local favorites Royal Spice and Viceroy Indian are also closeby, as is Biryanis Place, near the intersection of Hammond Drive and Peachtree Dunwoody Road.

Locally-based would-be Indian fast casual chain Sankranti recently closed its Dunwoody restaurant at Park Center where State Farm's campus is.

In Park Place, Simply South joins Eclipse di Luna, Cafe Intermezzo, and McKendrick's as dining options in the center.  ToNeTo Atlanta reported in January that a Van Leeuwen Ice Cream scoop shop was also coming to the center, but the ice cream maker has reportedly paused development amidst the center's sluggish leasing efforts and its co-tenancy clause.  It's unclear whether Simply South's signing and imminent work will be enough to trigger Van Leeuwen's renovations to resume.

Are you surprised to see another Indian eatery open in Dunwoody?  Do you still miss Alon's and EatZi's?  What would you like to see open in Park Place?
