[ADIOS] Mojave Closing in Sandy Springs Less Than Two Years After Being Sold

The owners of  Sandy Springs Latin American restaurant Mojave announced early Sunday that the eatery would be closing later that night, March 8.  There was no reason provided for the closure nor any indication as to what, if anything, may replace it anytime soon.

Miguel and Rachel Ayoub, owners of Rose & Crown, a tavern on Powers Ferry Road, originally opened Mojave in August 2019.  The restaurant, located at 6450 Powers Ferry Road near the Chattahoochee River, was, before Mojave, home to a short-lived reboot of Ray's Rio Bravo and before that, Peter Chang's Tasty China II.  The freestanding 6,800 square foot building first opened as a Cork 'n Cleaver in 1979 and became a Chart House in 1984.  Several other concepts have occupied the building over the years.

Rainer Shaw (previously with Le Bilboquet and AG Entertainment) and Lana Yakovleva purchased Mojave in May 2024.  According to the sales offering from Steve Josovitz of The Shumacher Group who handled the 2024 sale, Mojave had reached sales of nearly $7.5 million in years before the sale.

Clearly, things changed under the new owners.

Are you surprised to see Mojave close?  What has been your favorite restaurant in this space?  What would you like most to see open in place of Mojave?
